The most outrageously idiotic unimaginable things? Like inciting a riotous mob to attempt to prevent the certification of an election and the Constitutional transfer of power? Or arranging for fraudulent slates of electors? Or calling state officials to try and bully them into "finding" votes or not certifying election results? Or defying a subpoena and obstructing the return of classified documents?

I don't know what's more outrageous - doing these things or that "lazy clueless idiots would vote" for the person that did?

No was:
1.Liquidity: Increased $$ supply by 30% in 2 years with fiat currency. Included 3 rounds of stimulus checks, which resulted in too much $$ chasing too few good and services.
2. Interest rates: Zero % for over a year.
3.Labor shortages and increases costs: Paid people not to work for up to a yr and a half with extended, enhanced unemployment,
It really is that simple.

Notice you don’t mention price gouging above increased expenses.

And yes…monopolization is extremely anti-capitalist.

Price gouging didn't cause the inflation. You could argue that gouging (both intentional and unintentional) prolonged the inflationary period, but if you don't lose control of in the first place then you don't get the opportunity for gougers to pile on. Gouging wasn't a cause, it was a result. :coffee:

Everyone except for the consumer. Again, don't let inflation get out of hand in the first place (i.e. rampant and sudden increase in government spending, giving a shock to the supply of money) and none of this happens. Predictable, stable, and low inflation is and has always been the goal of the Fed (at least in modern times). When they take their eye off the ball and go hand in hand with feel good handouts of money with a willing Executive branch (and a Congress to sign off) then we get what we got - self-inflicted inflationary excess that we're still climbing out of now.

The Fed was first created was to avert banking panics which can be caused by several things, Covid being an example of one of them. Was the spigot left on too long? Perhaps. But not before further wealth concentration and inflated profits were had.

:dunce: Perhaps? Try definitely.

Not all of the inflated profits were intentional. Companies raised prices based on their costs at the time and what they estimated they would be after inflation continued to rise. Some estimated high on accident and others took advantage of the situation.

If the government hadn't opened the spigot to many times the reasons behind price increases would have been more transparent.
