Depending on the amount I'm all for it. But it also needs to require them to move back to Africa and they can never come back. If they don't accept it they can STFU.

So, modern people who never owned slaves paying modern people who never were slaves. In other words, no one alive either owned or was a slave, yet we need to pay reparations? I can't find any reference to either side of my family history going back to the late 1770's where we owned anybody. Do we pay anyway?

It really holds up....although the latter seasons where Alda became too introspective were a bit much for me. The "jocularity" of the earlier seasons are my favorite.

IMO, this is pointless. An apology? That's not going to resolve anything. Nor will giving away tax money. Are you going to only give tax money that was earned by the descendants of slave owners? As if our tax code isn't anymore confusing, now we have to conduct genealogical assessments to determine who is the descendant of a slave/slave owner. And do we also only give money to the slave family from the original slave-owning family? Or, as I suspect, this is just a broad brush where everyone of slave descent gets money and more benefits. Yeah, that'll solve our race problems. Throwing money at the problem won't fix it. giving them MORE access and free education won't work b/c they don't take advantage of the free education they can get now. Money doesn't fix deeply rooted problems.

My family were poor Irish that didn't immigrate until 1849 and the rest are poor, Irish that were farmers in Abbeville, SC. Do we get a credit for building and running theaters for whites and blacks until we integrated them in the 1930s? Do my wife and daughter get some money b/c they are descendants of a freed black men or does the CSA service in both our families negate that?

What's the UN doing about the slavery that continues to exist in Africa ? Or for that matter, will African countries have to pony up some money since they did sell slaves? Seems to me African countries, England, America, etc.. all have a share of th eblame.
