Other election issues/candidates

Anybody have any local/state election issues to go with the presidential?
I have a bunch of shitty choices
US Senator - 83 year old running for reelection. He was first elected to the Iowa Legislature in 1958. But the Dems offer us a 73 year old woman that stands no chance.
US House - Steve King is my current rep. Dems put up a token candidate.
State Representative - Republican that is pro-big ag and voted for the gas tax increase. I bet he'll vote for a sales tax increase next session to fund water quality so the regular taxpayers have to pay it instead of the farmers causing the problem. Dems couldn't even find someone to run against him.
I've already voted absentee. i think this is the first time I've never voted for anyone that was on the ballot.

We've got a Republican running for governor who's entire platform is "I'm going to fix the traffic problem"
when asked what his plan was his answer was hysterically Trump-esque
"I'm going to hire the right people to get the job done"
And that was the end of his shot at winning...

PA here, we have nothing but bad Senate choices. Got Toomey(R) as the incumbent and McGinty(D) is the challenger. Toomey's gotten better once he's been in office (finishing his first term now) but was very tea partiesh when he was running initially. McGinty used to be the head of the DEP (EPA) in PA and was on the Governor's staff recently. Other than that she's bounced around in a lot of Washington DC positions and got in trouble ethically for throwing contracts from the EPA to firms her husband consulted with (law got changed as a result). We already have a brain-dead Senator in Bob Casey Jr so it's important that we get at least one good Senator. Toomey might be it but just because McGinty seems more like a political hack. Besides, we already have on Dem Senator, better to split the ticket coming from the state.

I noticed on the way home yesterday that Ruth Ann Minner (she lives a mile down from me) has one John Carney for Governor yard sign in her front yard, but her neighbors on both sides have multiple Trump signs up. White trash neighbors shouting down the Governor.
Only in Delaware.

Ban Ruth Ann! I didn't know that old crone was still alive.

She still is, but one of her sons bought the farm a couple of weeks ago on the way back to the shop. I saw the wreckage. Had to be a heart attack at the wheel.

Governor is tight with a (R) incumbent vs an (D) State Attorney General. The Gov has HB2 and other legislation working against him for many people. He also has Hurricane Matthew working for him, because he gets to look like a leader.
Senate is close as well between an incumbent (R) and an upstart (D). I'm voting (L).
House doesn't matter, because our legislature gerrymandered my district enough to allow two secure Republican districts. So I get a 40 year old kid, who has been nothing but a political hack since graduation, back for I think his 6th term. Oh, and he's a Washington outsider.

Illinois Senate.
Will be voting Republican. Republicans need more people like Mark Kirk. Ignore the Tea Partiers and Trump Conservatives that want to throw them out as RINO's.
Tammy Duckworth is a spawn of the Illinois democratic establishment machine and is the type of candidate Democrats need to avoid.

Isn't Duckworth pretty much a sure pickup for the Dems there? Besides that, she checks off tons of boxes that help in elections - woman, Asian America, disabled as a result of serving in the armed forces. Both parties yearn for candidates like her and, since she wins elections, that's the type of candidate they will both put forward as often as possible.

Likely, but not hard to say. Polling is all over the place.

What? So both parties should target candidates based on identity politics. FUCK THAT. That's the whole point.
She's a woman, she's a wounded vet, she's a minority. Great. But, who gives a fuck? I'm sure that all played a role in the Democratic Illinois Machine targeting her as a good candidate. But, she's as much of an establishment Democrat as they come. Read about her time under Blagojevich and her defense of him.

Hey, I agree with you. However, both parties are just concerned with winning, they really don't care how. Identity politics works so that's another avenue for them to get to their ultimate goal - winning. What they do when they're there is really unimportant to either party, but getting there and staying there is. I don't like it either but it is what it is. And yes, Duckworth is just another political cog with a poor record, but that's not going to stop her from being elected.

I'm lucky enough to get two states' ads, MD and VA. The ads are just ugly and hateful. It gets worse every election and I swear it can't get worse, but it does. Worst seems to be Virginia District 10 between incumbent Barbara Comstock and LuAnn Bennett. These bitches have taken off the gloves.

I have to do some research. All I know is that any Republican candidate who has not disassociated with Trump is off my list. Won't vote for any Republican unless they have clearly said that they reject the idea of Trump as President. That probably means I won't be voting for any Republicans.

Mark Kirk is running anti-Trump ads as a Republican. Can't run any further from him. Ok. I'll stop my shilling now.

Got our only House seat up for election, Liz Cheney moved back here to run for that spot from her native state, Virginia. She beat a crowded field in the primary with 21%. Now she has collected the largest war chest in Wyoming history against her Democrat opponent.
Isn't she special.......

Our Senator UpChuck Grassley is running for reelection. I heard a radio ad today with his wife encouraging women to get checked for breast cancer. He has so much money and a joke of an opponent that he can run ads like that.

OK, it's gotten to the point where I hope LuAnn Bennett loses in historical fashion. She is running non-stop ads where all they say is Barbara Comstock didn't make a public statement condemning Trump for mocking a disabled reporter. Why is it her job to do that? It literally is her entire campaign the last two weeks.

FWIW,
National Review gave Barbara a glowing tribute last week.
Here in greater Philly, I'm getting damn tired of "Hillary Junior" Kate McGinty. Corrupt to the core, and I hope Toomey crushes her. Or at least edges her.
