The $6 Trillion Issue You Won’t Be Hearing About at Tonight’s Debate
"the Defense Department’s inspector general found more than $6.5 trillion “wrongful adjustments to accounting entries” in the Army’s general fund in 2015 alone. It’s a number that’s difficult to wrap your head around. First of all, it’s much larger than the entire annual federal budget. But that sum represents not only current spending, but a lot of money from previous years that can’t be accounted for either. The sheer scope of the malfeasance is so staggering that the question that comes to mind isn’t “Why?” but “How?” Defense journalist Matthew Gault took a shot at answering that when he wrote at War Is Boring: “How could the Army misplace, fudge, misappropriate or otherwise lose $6.5 trillion? It’s simple. Years of no oversight, bad accounting practices and crappy computer systems created this problem. Add to that the fact that in accounting, a dollar can get lost multiple times, creating a cascade, or snowball, effect. And keep in mind, this is just the Army and just its general fund.” Gault’s not being hyperbolic about the lack of oversight. In the 20 years since it’s been a legal requirement that the Pentagon undergo an annual audit, they haven’t ever complied. Not once.."

Yeah, some agencies never run clean books. One agency that did was DISA, and they were very proud of it when I worked there. I found it kind of humorous that they patted themselves on the back so much for something that the private sector would consider second nature. The private sector is actually accountable to a bottom line and to shareholders though, unlike the government. At worst, an agency head will be forced to retire early or moved.

Clit, you'll love this one too. The Marine Corps was
almost the first service to ever get a clean audit opinion, but that was later revoked.
So, the actual DoD branches are still 0'fer.

Oh shit, the Navy guy showed up. I accidentally hit the rolling on the floor laughing emoticon when I meant to hit the head shaking one. Forgive me.

Soooooo glad we're going to elect Hilldog and let this wasteful system of military procurement continue. Screw third parties!

What, pray tell, does this little gem of a sentence even mean?

What, pray tell, does this little gem of a sentence even mean?
Example:
Susan gives $10 dollars to Bobby to buy eggs bread and bacon
Bobby arrives at the store to find he only received $7 dollars from Susan
Susan also gives $30 dollars to Frank to by a screwdriver screws and a hammer
Frank arrives at the store to find he received $33 dollars
Bobby returns from the store with everything but the eggs
Susan gives him $5 more dollars
Meanwhile Frank never reports he was over compensated
However he still arrives home without the hammer
Susan gives him $15 dollars
Do you see where this is going...
