This is good news, but they already decided to move ALL small car production to Mexico. How many Lincoln SUVs are sold versus the Fiesta, Focus, and C-Max? I'm guessing it's a lot less.

I mean, I understand why. Lincoln SUVs don't have to be as competitively priced as the small cars do. With Chevy, VW, Mazda, and Nissan already producing their small cars in Mexico, Ford almost has to do it to remain price competitive on the much lower margin small cars.

Why yes. Yes I am. I am fair and balanced, like Fox News.

This. Get the small cars back (won't happen) and then I'll be impressed.

Hey, it is a start. :thumb:

And, if Obama had a similar victory, people would have nominated Obama for sainthood.

The "threat of nuclear war" meter went down the day after Trump was elected. That makes him more deserving of the Nobel than Obama.....

Its not just the small cars. Some pickup production has been moved to Mexico as well.
-GM 1/2 ton crew cab pickups (Chevy Silverados & GMC Sierra 1500s) made in Mexico with about 40% North American parts. I think the production was moved to Mexico in Obama's 1st term.
-Toyota Tundras made in Texas with about 75% North American parts (tied with Ford for most American made pickup) (I know because I bought a 2016 1794 Tundra CrewCab this past June).
-Nissan Titans made in Mississippi..
Go figure..

They're already trying to give it to him, because "this talk started back in June" supposedly.

So what's basically going on is:

Some American vehicles are made overseas to be price competitive.

Some Foreign vehicles are being built in America to be price competitive.

I really don't know, but does TPP give Nissan and Toyota a reason to stop making vehicles in America? I don't know anything about the trade deals. I just imagine there are good things and bad things about each one of them.

Just a guess here, but it might actually force them to make vehicles in BOTH Japan and the US to get around any future tariffs.

:?
“Earlier this month, I met with President-elect Trump and shared my commitment to investing and creating jobs in the U.S.,” Mr. Son said in a statement. “America has always been at the forefront of innovation and technological development, and we are thrilled to be playing a part in continuing to drive that growth as we work to create a truly globally connected ecosystem.”

Mr. Son, whose technology and telecommunications empire has made him one of Japan’s wealthiest men, has positioned himself as a prospective partner of the coming Trump administration by promising to help spur job growth.

At a meeting at Trump Tower in Manhattan this month, Mr. Son pledged to invest $50 billion in the United States, which, by his reckoning, would create about 50,000 jobs. Mr. Trump has cited the pledge as a sign that he could persuade the private sector to lead improvements in the national economy.
