How does Rocky Balboa greet a Jewish person?
Maybe?

But nah, just a Trump verbal gaffe while reading his script. (I hope there isn't a Trump verbal gaffe thread that I should have put this in.)
There is but don't worry about it. The anti-Trumpers aren't nearly as rabid and obsessive as the Uumpa Truumpas so it's probably fallen off the front page.

You want to see rabid, go make a contrary comment on a SJW post on twitter.

Then stand the fuck by.....

Donks refuse to compromise on 4th Round of China Virus stimulus. So Trump issues exec orders, among them a:
-renewal of the addition to state weekly unemployment benefit that is scaled back to $400-per-week instead of $600-per-week.
-120-day eviction moratorium.
-payroll tax holiday until the end of the year.
-extension of student loan relief.

And the donks are trying to block it. So the donks are choosing this hill to die on: coming out against unemployed workers, employed workers, tenants and homeowners, and students with student loans. 4D Chess.

Refused to compromise on what?

$29 billion for Department of Defense and helicopters, planes, and ships?
$1.75 billion for new FBI headquarters?
$377 million for renovations to the West Wing of the White House?

These kind of “emergency” bills are politicians’ wet dreams....on BOTH sides of the aisle. Ever since the term “bail out” was invented, politicians have been licking their chops for the next opportunity to load them up with pork. And to believe only one side of the aisle does it is just burying your head in the sand. The only difference is that “your” side may be doing things you like, while the other side isn’t.

Personally, I don’t want ANY of that shit in an emergency bill.

Congress should abide by two legal provisions that Delaware has: each bill must have only one subject (no “riders”), and the title of the bill must match the subject matter.

We’ll see what the courts decide about these executive orders. The previous relief bills were pork-laden atrocities.

-IF The state can pay. Otherwise they're screwed or they can apply for the full $400.

The payroll tax holiday is just a deferment of the tax. I'd be willing to bet companies, especially smaller ones, will still withhold it seeing they will still have to pay it. Also - it MIGHT be forgiven if he wins a 2nd term. Also - since when does the President set tax policy. I thought Congress had that power? And tell me...after we've cut that tax, where will the money come from for those services the tax provides for? And how is a payroll tax deferment going to those that are hurt the most - those unemployed b/c of COVID? :dunce:

Even his unemployment action, to have the states pay up, has met so much criticism that he's going back on what he said. Looks like another toothless, hastily written thought from the Stable Genius that only creates more confusion than anything else.

This is pandering 101 and the MAGA morons are eating it up. It's like he vomited on a paper and then signed it while Meadows and the GOP are saying, " Good job! We love what you've done!"

Yep. Heard all of the EO's are legal with the exception of the one using FEMA funds to bolster unemployment benefits...and if the Dems sue Trump to keep another Trump check out of the hands of the populace...oh boy...

4D Chess in action. I fucking love it. :notworthy:

For the record I hate the idea of EO's and wish they wouldn't be used.

EOs have been used over the years for mundane things like catering menus, whatever.

Using them in place of legislative action was mostly an Obama invention (yes - Reagan used one - to close a legislative loophole with the consent of Congress). Trump has of course built on the Obama legacy.

My hope is that this serves as an example to people why EOs in place of legislation are a bad idea.. because if your guy can do it, so can the other guy. And no executive ever relinquishes that kind of power.

Unfortunately I don’t think we are going to learn that lesson. My guy’s EOs were no big deal but your guy’s are different

EO's, the way that Obama and Trump have used them, are a result of Congress being led by politicians that are effective at politics, but who are not effective as legislators. We have a Congress that from top to bottom have extremely little interest in working as representatives or senators other than how it plays into them being reelected into power. We focus on the President because it's one person and it's always been a high publicity job, and sure, Trump is an absolute buffoon and is incredible at sucking all the air out of the room, but Congress hasn't been working well for a few years now.

Huh? Dems can sue to stop this egregious EO, no? SCOTUS can then decide if it's an illegal EO, no?
