But Chizzy wants the workers to earn $15 per hour!Skjellyfetti wrote:

Yes he said it but I fully agree. Just yesterday I was complaining to my wife about our local grocery store removing their self checkout lanes.clenz wrote:Okay, Phillip DeFranco....Vidav wrote:I am excited for this to take off. Self checkout lanes are pointless if you are not seeing a savings (you're not btw). I only use them if there is a line and I have more then a couple items. I never use them at places like Home Depot and big box retailers.Vidav wrote:Yes he said it but I fully agree. I can get myself through the self checkout faster than going through a regular line. Plus I don't have to talk to anyone.SDHornet wrote:Self checkout lanes are pointless if you are not seeing a savings (you're not btw). To this Amazon idea...now if Costco can get on the ball and get this going...
I'd rather pay the same amount (because you save no money in self checkout) to have someone bag my shit than pay the same to bag it myself. To each his own I guess.Vidav wrote:I can get myself through the self checkout faster than going through a regular line. I always use them at Home Depot. Mostly because there is usually never more than a single manned check-out line open being run by either a woman or a teenager. And don't even get me started on a female, Asian teenager working there...SDHornet wrote:Self checkout lanes are pointless if you are not seeing a savings (you're not btw). This. (FUCK YEAH, RUSSIAN!!!). I usually draw the line at about 20 items though. Anything over that and there's a pretty good chance one of those items won't scan.Vidav wrote:I can get myself through the self checkout faster than going through a regular line. Fuck anyone that brings produce to the self-checkout at the grocery store.bandl wrote:This. (FUCK YEAH, RUSSIAN!!!). I usually draw the line at about 20 items though. Anything over that and there's a pretty good chance one of those items won't scan.Vidav wrote:

Why do you attribute all of your misinformation to me..?Cluck U wrote:

This is unfair! Seattle is supposed to support workers!
I don't buy produce. I leave that to the wife so we can leave half of it in the fridge to rot until her next trip.89Hen wrote:Fuck anyone that brings produce to the self-checkout at the grocery store.bandl wrote: This. Most of the people around here are pretty educated so I rarely see this problem. Could be where you live.GrizFanStuckInUtah wrote:Self checkout stations can go fuck themselves. They never fail to fail. It takes even longer than waiting in line to get the one asshole that is babysitting 10 fucked up checkout stations to fix the one I'm at. To be clear, like Bandl, if I have a large number of items I will go through a normal line. But if I am just grabbing a few things it's so much faster to use the self checkout.SDHornet wrote:I'd rather pay the same amount (because you save no money in self checkout) to have someone bag my shit than pay the same to bag it myself. Vidav's rule of thumb of not speaking to anyone applies even more so at Walmart.93henfan wrote:That being said, self checkout at WalMart (pretty much the only place to shop in my town - they put everyone else out of business) is still the way to go.
It could be, I've even had the things mess up on the new chip card readers. I was at a grocery store the other day and used one, it decided to charge .93 of the 9.93 charge for some 2 liter bottles of soda on one charge and then I had to run it again for 9.00. I know I followed the prompts, it was just a POS. It then had to have the store login to get it working before the 9.00 would go through again.89Hen wrote:Most of the people around here are pretty educated so I rarely see this problem. BOOM!bandl wrote:The only two places where I have regularly had an sort of trouble with self check-out stations have been Home Depot and Lowe's.
The best place I've been to with self check-out is Sam's Club. Don't even have to take anything out of your cart, can just use the hand scanner. My son likes to go to Sam's club with me and then put everything in the cart in such a way that all the UPC codes are face up so he can scan them himself.
Yes, that's right, my 6-year old son has absolutely no problem using a self check-out station.
They just work less hours then. Win/Win for them.andy7171 wrote:Local talk radio addressed $15/hr minimum. The natives were shocked to learn that once they make $15/ they are above the food stamp income.
