Final Electoral College tally?

Post by houndawg »

At least one elector, from Texas, ( ) says he won't vote for Trump because the Donald displays his unfitness for the job every day and its his job to keep despots from being swept into power by the mob. How close will the numbers be on the 19th? Can you imagine the right-wing freakout that would ensue?

This is freaking hilarious

There's an elector or two in Washington or Oregon (I think the former) who said he wouldn't vote for Hillary because of her unfitness for the job. I don't know if we'll set a modern day record for faithless electors - I think there were 15 such electors in the 1960 election. You may end up seeing more faithless electors who switch from Clinton to someone else (not to Trump, but to someone else - better for the protest), than you see electors who move away from Trump. I think Trump still comes in over 300 (he has 306 from the election).

Trump will still win. 37(38) Republicans electors would have to vote for someone else and there is no sign that that could happen. So....if neither Trump nor Clinton get to 270, the House of Representatives choose the President. They'll probably still choose Trump.

This is all pointless speculation.

If you made a pledge as an elector you should be obligated to abide by your pledge, not take some moral high ground when things don't go the way you want them to. :coffee:

And that last part is true - regardless of what the Electoral College does the House isn't going to pick anyone other than Trump. Heck, if it goes to the House, because of the one state/one vote rule in that scenario, states like Colorado and Virginia could flip to Trump since there are more Republicans in those state delegations than Democrats. I don't think any state would flip from Trump to anyone else. What a scene that would be if Liberals get all excited that Trump doesn't get to 270, but then the House overwhelmingly votes him in anyway. Would make for fascinating tv.

Trump is going to be the President, and frankly, as much of a loose cannon as he is (and he's a terrible loose cannon), it would do more harm to our electoral process and probably the country if by some machinations or back door dealing he's denied the Presidency. If you don't like him, impeach him because he ends up doing something worth impeaching him for, or vote him out of office with a better candidate than Hillary in 2020.

Exaclty, denying him the Presidency would do so much damage and it still wouldn't result in a Clinton win.

FWIW, the guy that has accurately picked the winner of every President Election for the past 30+ years predicts that Trump will be impeached.

Yeah, but did he ever predict any other impeachments or lack of impeachments? I mean, this could be his first time predicting. In addition, how hard was it to predict the past 30 years of Presidential elections? Only this on with Trump was a real upset. Bush and Gore in 2000 was 50/50 going into the election. Before that the only one in question was the Kennedy/Nixon one.

It would still be a smart political move to make the conks double down on Pop n Fresh if possible, then stand back and laugh when the wheels inevitably come off. This is great he hasn't even taken office yet and its a three ring circus

Yeah GWB was a real sponge, he spent most of his "vacation" clearing brush on his ranch.

Not jet setting around the world treating every relative they have to weeks in exotic locations like the shitbags in office now. All on our dime, 72 million in travel costs...........Thank god those POS are gone in 4 weeks.

Feel free to post GWBs travel expenses so we can laugh at the disparity.

A fashion war? Bronco and Alfie in rugged (no homo) western wear against a guy who irons his jeans and an Eastern European dude with a closet full of designer ushankas. I'd call it a draw.
