Plant Shutdown Taught Some Lessons

A little dated, but telling nonetheless and still around the mountain from our area....
The shutdown of Transylvania County's Ecusta paper mill in August 2002 taught North Carolina environmental regulators that they can't always depend on corporations to do the right thing.
"The lesson here is you can't always count on corporate responsibility because corporate responsibility is bottom line business," Regional Water Quality Supervisor Forrest Westall told a Hendersonville audience Monday night.
