and acting against ones own self interest

Example:
When a person lies repeatedly
knowing they themselves are lying
and knowing they are going to be revealed
Yet continue to Lie

That by strict clinical definition ^ that is a Pathological Liar

1) Lies repeatedly (Check)
2) They themselves know they are lying (Check)
3) They are actively aware they are going to be discovered in the lie (Check)
4) Still lie anyway (Check)
5) Then do it again (Check)
