WTF does this even mean?
Trump's press secretary says the inauguration was the largest in history.
When called out on this bullshit...
...
Kellyanne Conway says Spicer was just using "alternative facts"

Alternative facts are those things Winston Smith creates.
It would've been better to just say "Republican inaugurations have smaller crowds because Republicans have jobs" than try and do that.

Just curious of what the 11:30 Trump picture looked like to compare Apples to Apples. I'm sure there was still more in the Obama picture, but just wanted to see apples to apples.

We were guaranteed a joke with Clinton or Trump.

Alternative facts are like the need to make journalism "fair and balanced", or "equal" to both sides.

Trump's folks (or any other administrations beside Obama) shouldn't try to dispute the magnitude of Obama's inauguration crowd. You have two million blacks within walking distance.

But the thread is about Trump's team lying about minor but provable things, not about Hillary.

Hey, Russian, Trump's hands are bigger than Putin's.

As you know it goes way beyond that. In 2009 Obama went into his Inauguration with an estimated 78% of the population viewing him favorably vs. only 18% viewing him unfavorably (
http://www.gallup.com/poll/201977/trump ... y-low.aspx). Trump went into his with an estimated 40% viewing him favorably vs. 55% viewing him unfavorably. Of COURSE there was more enthusiasm for Obama.
I get the impression that Trump and his worshipers want to potray this as a situation in which this guy is riding the wave of some kind of movement where he is the Champion of the American people and they're galvenized behind him. That's not the case. More people voted for the other major candidate. Trump is deeply unpopular. And majorities of the American people disagree with most of his high profile positions.
He is an artifact of 1) the Democrats having a candidate with an unbelievable number of problems and 2) the electoral college system. He is not the choice of most of the people and he's not viewed favorably by most of the people.

No, it really doesn't go beyond that. He was the first black President. The DC/Baltimore metropolitan area is 10 million people, of which about three million are negros. Include Amtrack and easy bus trips, you can tack on Philly, NYC, and Tidewater region of VA to add another five million negros. Of those eight million negros, you were able to get a crowd of 1.8 million people for the inauguration.

Crowd size matters as much as the popular vote count.

This was a screw up by the Administration. Nobody died, but it was a stupid move to so petty.
The inauguration of the first black President was a big deal for a lot of people. There is no reason to believe that there wasn't more people there.
It was also petty to make the comparison to begin with. Obama had a smaller crowd in 2013 than in 2009 despite being on a Sunday (2013) vs. Tuesday (2009).

It does go beyond that. And I think you really know it. Obama was just WAY more popular going into his inauguration than Trump is now. And it isn't just Trump. The metro was busier for Bush as well.
For some reason Trump and his people feel the need to try to create the impression that he's really popular. And he's just not. Most people in this country do not want him in the position. And I think it goes beyond just not wanting him in the position. I think most people in the country are horrified by the fact that he's in the position.

Exactly.
After Spicer called out Time or Newsweek or whoever for the outright lie in the Twitter post about the MLK's bust, he shoulda just dropped the mic.
