The First 100 Days of Trump

Post by Ibanez »

Day 1-2
1) Issued an executive order aimed at rolling back former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act.
2) Halted a reduction to the annual mortgage insurance premiums borrowers pay when taking out government-backed home loans.
3) Ordered agencies to freeze new regulations, giving the new administration time to review them.
4) Plans to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

1) Withdrawing the US from the TPP negotiations.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt), who campaigned hard against the Trans-Pacific Partnership in last year’s Democratic presidential primaries, praised President Trump for an executive order to officially pull the United States out of the deal.

“I am glad the Trans-Pacific Partnership is dead and gone,” Sanders said. “For the last 30 years, we have had a series of trade deals – including the North American Free Trade Agreement, permanent normal trade relations with China and others – which have cost us millions of decent-paying jobs and caused a ‘race to the bottom’ which has lowered wages for American workers. Now is the time to develop a new trade policy that helps working families, not just multinational corporations. If President Trump is serious about a new policy to help American workers, then I would be delighted to work with him.”

And as happened under Carter's and Reagan's federal hiring freezes, the shortfall will be made up by contract employees, costing taxpayers more money, and giving federal acquisition officials, such as myself, incredible job security. And a chubby. :thumb:

This one is getting lots of talk at my office. The partisan libs are painting this as Trump being against homeownership. Nevermind that the FHA annual mortgage insurance premiums almost tripled under the Obama administration (necessary, but you get the point) and that the reduction was done as a parting shot by the outgoing administration done WAY too late in their tenure. :coffee:

Not IF those agencies don't get more $$ to spend. Yeah, I know thats an unlikely "if" even if its a goal of Trumps's..

President Trump named Monday former Rep. Heather Wilson as his nominee for Air Force secretary.

With Wilson tapped for the Air Force and Vincent Viola for the Army, the only service secretary nomination yet to be named is Navy secretary.

Wilson, 56, graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1982 and was in the school's third class to include women. She also earned master's and doctoral degrees as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. She is currently the president of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Day 4

5 more exec 'actions' signed:
".......
A memorandum expediting the Keystone XL Pipeline, a proposed 1,179-mile cross-border pipeline from Alberta to Nebraska. In unusual language referring to a specific private company in a presidential directive, Trump invited pipeline company, Transcanada, "to promptly resubmit its application." He also ordered the secretary of State to make a decision within 60 days, fast-tracking existing procedural requirements.

A memorandum directing the secretary of the Army to "review and approve in an expedited manner" the Dakota Access Pipeline, a 1,172-mile pipeline from North Dakota to Illinois that has been the subject of heated protests by American Indian groups and environmentalists. Because the pipeline crosses waterways, it needs approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers...
....
A memorandum requiring the secretary of Commerce to come up with a plan to mandate American-made steel for all new, expanded or retrofitted pipelines in the United States. The plan is due in six months. "Going to put a lot of workers, a lot of steelworkers, back to work," Trump said.

A memorandum to all federal agencies to review manufacturing regulations. The secretary of Commerce is required to seek input from the public on how to streamline those rules for 60 days, with a report to Trump containing proposals 60 days after that.

An executive order fast-tracking approval for "high-priority infrastructure projects." Under Trump's order, any governor or Cabinet secretary can ask for a project to be designated as high-priority. If the chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality approves, the project will go to the front of the line for any agency required to review and approve the project.

"This is the expediting of environmental reviews and approvals for high-priority infrastructure projects," Trump said. "We can’t be in an environmental process for 15 years if a bridge is falling down."

"If it’s a no, we'll give them a quick no, and if it’s a yes, it's like 'Let's start building,' " he said. "The regulatory process in this country has become a tangled-up mess, and very unfair to people.""

"....Trump signed two executive orders, directing the construction of a wall along the roughly 2,000-mile (3,200-kilometer) U.S.-Mexico border, moving to peel away federal grant money from "sanctuary" states and cities that harbor illegal immigrants and beefing up the force of immigration agents...."

-Lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars worth of American energy, including shale, oil, natural gas, and clean coal.

-Enact a five-year ban on White House officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service.
