Heaven isn't a very Biblical concept as a whole.

If you're the kind of guy who can believe in the Catholic version of the bearded man in the sky - with his yuuuge rule book... surely you can believe that dogs can go to heaven

I don't think you understand what Catholics believe.

Heaven is some form of spiritual place in which the best aspects of our personhood survive, to the exclusion of our failings and imperfections. Those things which made us happy here become an integral part of that eternal, spiritual existence. Thus, many Catholic theologians believe -- Francis included -- that we will see our beloved pets in heaven. That doesn't mean that animals have their own separate, eternal existence, apart from their contribution to our spirituality.

In the afterlife, DevilDogs are going to be called AngelDogs, but yup. You can eat all the AngelDogs and hot dogs you like, and you will never gain a pound.

Or in Cluck's case, devildogs will be just out of reach for all eternity.

From reading this thread, it appears Chizzy is the resident religious expert, everyone else is full of crap.

Yeah, but it's a book written by illiterate fisherman and what-not. Oh, and they were dirty Middle Easterners. So, can we really trust it?

Psalm 14:1.

You seem to be ignoring Proverbs 16:5.
Surely we should ignore Leviticus 11:7, right? Leviticus 19:23-25? Exodus 21:7? Exodus 35:2?
Take it with a grain of salt. The bible was written for a different audience. The bible was constructed with a certain purpose for a certain audience, and it was constructed by man. So let's take it with a grain of salt.

Psalm 14:1.

Hey Joe,
You know I love the idea of God
What I don't believe in is You
Because you're willing to make sh!t up in the name of God
and act like the sh!t you made up came from on high
That's kinda pathologically insane my friend
That's my biggest problem with structured big book type religions
There's not enough people involved admitting "We don't really know"

Spare me, nimrod. You pretend to "love the idea of God" so you can be a snark.
You asked a question. I provided my thoughts on the question, in good faith, even though I KNEW you were just trying to be a snark. And just like a trained monkey, you gave your snarky rejoinder. I knew it was coming, but I responded any way, because important questions shouldn't be ignored just because the person who asked it intends to be a snark. But you never let me down. You are predictable.

But given that's what all popes have done since forever.... isn't it kind of the definition of Big Rulebook Christianity?
