I supported the last three Presidents initially and were disappointed badly by all three. I sat out 2012 as a self-imposed penalty to myself for choosing shitty people. I may have to double it up next time and sit out 2020 and 2024. I'm great at picking winners, but I suck at picking good people.

You can't use conventional rules of psychology on Trump. I mean, if an action like that is what you would need to be convinced then why weren't you convinced when he was threatening to fire people in the FBI and DoJ to try and put a stop to the investigation?

Trump is a caricature of a caricature of a narcissist. If he sees the news and anyone is talking about the investigation, he pitches a fit on Twitter. It hurts his massive ego that it's even going on. With normal people you assume they won't start a high-speed chase to try and get out a ticket for an expired tag, but Trump doesn't work like that.

If Trump was ever a Putin asset, Putin's probably already given up on him because he's so mercurial and isn't really capable of loyalty to anyone.

Just a hunch but I think Trump may come to regret nominating William Barr.

There's something to the loyalty question but, on the other hand, I don't think there is any question that the United States has been destabilized by virtue of Trump being elected President. I don't think there is any question that the relationship between the United States and the European democracies has also been destabilized. I think there is ample basis to suspect that Putin would like to see Trump remain as President for another term in order to continue the process. It's not a matter of loyalty. Trump is screwing up the United States as well as the whole Western alliance.
