Wrong, this is how the left will die, and they know it which is why they try to legislate them away from people.

OK...I'll admit it...over time, you've made me interested in what Sam Harris has to say and I think he's really smart and provocative. And from the over-reaction to Trump and Milo, to safe places on college campuses, I agree the new left/alt left...whatever we're calling passionate but ignorant activist youth these days is a total shit show.

But that video....

Can't tell if he's master troll or just severely butt hurt. Which is more dangerous, radical islam or the average american liberal?

Do you guys not think it's obvious that in that video Lynch was talking about stuff like the Civil Rights marches where, yes, people did get beaten up and bloodied as well as in some instances killed?

phpBB [video]

To say that she was calling for some kind of violent revolution is ridiculous. This kind of tin foil hat crap is what gives the "right" a bad name. And you look at the comments below the video on Youtube and you see a bunch of idiots actually buying into the "Loretta Lynch makes a video calling for marching, BLOOD and even DEATH in resistance to Trump" statement made by the looney tune who posted the video.

No, she was not calling for death and blood in the streets. She was referring to what people in the past have sometimes had to go through to gain their rights. Non violent protests that were met with violence.

Once again those of us on the "conservative" side who have at least SOME sense are confronted with the fact that we've got a bunch of paranoid, hateful, totally out of touch with reality people on "our" side that comprise a critical mass of the Republican base. It's a serious problem.

I went back and listened to the first minute.

1). There is space between the extremists on both sides.

2). Of the millions who participated in the women's march or protested a right wing speaker on campus, how many participated or even condoned violence? Two of the people I know who marched in Spokane are extremely successful businessmen/grandpas who somehow managed to keep their Molotovs holstered. But I'm sure they were the exception.

This would be like me using Alpha as a baseline for the conservative movement...

The civil rights marches have no comparison to what the left is doing now. :dunce: The left isn't conducting non violent protests that are being met with violence from the right. In fact the complete opposite is happening now.

Lynch's comments:
“…Individuals who have banded together, ordinary people who simply saw what needed to be done, and came together and supported those ideals who have made the difference. They’ve marched, they’ve bled, and yes, some of them have died. This is hard, every good thing is. We have done this before, we can do this again.”

"We have done this before" "marched, bled, died". The bleeding & dying Lynch is saying could happen again is certainly not, and obviously won't be, a result of a a violent right in response to peaceful left protests. It will be the violent left in response to losing power.

American liberals are far more dangerous than radical Islam, at least right now because there are more of them in the USA. If we keep letting the Muslims in it may even out but the Liberals will always be more violent.

Who is "the left"? Some might say Hillary, Obama, grandpa marchers, Sam Harris, Chizzang...

Maybe he should have titled his video, "This is how the Extreme left will die"? :)

He agressively puts his thoughts out there and raises provactive poimts. Of course there's going to be push back. He has to be smart enough to expect that. He might even welcome it. I do. I share his concerns over radical behavior and the quelling of open discourse. I've mentioned it a number of times. In fact I posted the first thread on micro-aggressions.

I'm just not as inclined to paint the left brand (whatever the hell it is) with brush strokes or run for cover yet.

Which is more dangerous?

To whom? If you ask a Yazidi or Christian in northern Iraq you'll get one answer.

But if you ask me, I'm not afraid of radical Islam. I don't see it being able to come close to gaining a foothold in this country (because it will devour its liberal apologists long before it achieves the kind of political power it needs for hegemony)

I'm much more concerned about the progressive, identity obsessed left because what they are doing these days is exactly - precisely what the Red Guard was doing during the Cultural Revolution... they aren't necessarily all communists (although a good percentage of them are) but their blatant adherence to the idea that incorrect thought must not be tolerated at all... squashed with violence if need be- is very alarming. That municipal and state authorities in some places would rather stand back and let them do it to hang on to their jobs rather than deal with it is an indicator that we have turned a corner.

This thing is VERY intoxicating for people because it is an outlet for anger and at the same time it is also a struggle for "purity" that feeds on itself, creating greater and greater levels of absurdity in what in considered "incorrect". That's why I call it Cultural Maoism but I am sure others have labeled it as such as well.

What also concerns me is that rather than fighting against it, people shut down and withdraw because you really cannot make a case with these people. They do not listen. Putting it in perspective, take note that every single time a public figure steps outside the box of orthodoxy on anything race/gender/sex related the demands for heartfelt apologies go out from the poor hurt felling masses. And you know what? They comply. They apologize, they grovel, they wear the proverbial dunce hat and the virtual sign around their necks that reads, "Racist... Sexist... Homophobe... Ableist... " etc etc ad nauseum

Couple this with the fact that many polls of people younger than 30 in this country that largely believe that offensive speech should not be protected. Then juxtapose that with what these people declare as being offensive and ask yourself what that toxic cocktail could lead to in our lifetimes once this plurality starts to take the reins of power.

The final reason it worries me is that there are a sh1tload of people like me - who have decided not to bother or give a single fvck anymore. I'm not interested in engaging these people AT ALL. Life is too short, and I have reached the point where as far as I am concerned, the SJW generation has learned nothing from history and WILL repeat the totalitarian mistakes of the past. At that point if I am still alive I'll be largely safe because I'll be an old curmudgeon not worth reeducation and they'll just wait for me to die off. At least that's what had BETTER happen, because I have guns and I have defensible property and my level of give-a-fvckedness has a very short shelf life.

The headline will probably read: "Ageing Neo-Nazi Bigot Scum Dies in Shootout With Tolerance Brigade At Rural Nazi Compound"

Hahahahahaha.

You have to know history to learn from it.

You will get a blank stare from most everyone under 30 talking about the cultural revolution or Stalin's purges and collectivization. The sum total of their knowledge about government malevolence is "Hiiitler! Raaaaacist! Baaaaaad!"

OK...I'll admit it...over time, you've made me interested in what Sam Harris has to say and I think he's really smart and provocative. And from the over-reaction to Trump and Milo, to safe places on college campuses, I agree the new left/alt left...whatever we're calling passionate but ignorant activist youth these days is a total **** show.

But that video....

Can't tell if he's master troll or just severely butt hurt. Which is more dangerous, radical islam or the average american liberal?

John,
Both sides are becoming the same
As concerned for the Right as you are I am equally concerned for the Left

I have been concerned with the left for many years. What's happened over the past two years has forced me to become at least as concerned about the right. And the right is my "side." I am severely disappointed in what's been going on. It's gotten to the point where I have been forced to admit that the right is at least as bad and perhaps even worse than the left when it comes to misinformation and distortion.

Actually, it's gotten to the point where I honestly think my "side" is worse. And I don't like that at all.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
