Obama's Pick for EPA Deputy Drops Out

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's nominee for the No. 2 post in the Environmental Protection Agency is backing out, saying scrutiny of a group he was affiliated with was threatening to become "a distraction" for the administration.
The EPA announced the decision by Jonathan Cannon, nominated for the post of deputy EPA administrator, on Wednesday afternoon, the day before he was scheduled to appear before a Senate panel considering his nomination.
In a written statement, Mr. Cannon said he was voluntarily withdrawing because
(click to read the dirt) "it has come to my attention that America's Clean Water Foundation, where I once served on the board of directors, has become the subject of scrutiny. While my service on the board of that now-dissolved organization is not the subject of the scrutiny, I believe the energy and environmental challenges facing our nation are too great to delay confirmation for this position, and I do not wish to present any distraction to the agency."

a very serious question how many people is this now? I mean the #2 EPA guy... who cares, but it seems like another one every week. So is it more tax cheats or more resignations?

And they still don't have most of the top spots in Treasury (below the secretary) filled......
Didn't I hear something about the economy being an issue???

Obama's been busy. He has talk shows to attend, basket ball games to attend and most important of all his bracket to fill out live on national television.

In this case... it's his own damn fault too...
stupid rules about lobbyists... heaven forbid people who know the subject matter actually serve in the government...
One of my big gripes about Obama was his assault on lobbyists... in fact, really the making of lobbyists in to boogeymen in general by pols and media types is one of the most retarded things to come out of the last decade.
