The worlds greatest negotiator...

Last week "The Great Negotiator" signed:
a Budget with explicit restrictions to BLOCK the building of the border wall...

along with $1.5 billion for border security
about half as much as the White House requested

Non-defense domestic spending will go up, despite the Trump team’s insistence he wouldn’t let that happen
and
Trump proposed defunding the Advanced Research Projects Agency on Energy
Instead, it is getting a $15 million increase.

Trump fought to cut the Environmental Protection Agency by a third
The final deal trims its budget by just 1 percent, with no staff cuts. As part of a compromise, the EPA gets $80 million less than last year, but the budget is $8 billion

Defund Planned Parenthood.... Nope... will continue to receive funding at current levels

The great negotiator said he'd increase military spending by $30 billion
He’s getting $12.5 billion

No shit... :dunce:

If jizzy can pass it off as a budget (which it most certainly is NOT), then I can have a little fun at his (and Obushma's) expense.

Try and keep up.

I'd put forward the idea the border wall was being used as a bargaining trick by Trump, but I don't think he's really that clever.

It's doesn't matter how clever (or not) he is...
It's how clever (or not) his supporters are

Trump was always full of it on the wall and pretty much everything else

But ZOMG a politician isnt delivering on promises? Knock me over with a feather

But we have an actual budget that might get passed? No CR? wow

it sounds like there have been many compromises-

Remember back just recently when one of the biggest gripes with our political system was that there's no compromising?

Look no further for the reason

It's now called "caving" or "incompetence" or something

Oh don't misunderstand me here... I LOVE IT
All of the compromises were fantastic in my opinion

They weren't "deal breakers" for me... I didn't run on them as my entire platform

And BTW:
Trump isn't a politician remember

According to AZ they are not... ever
and I'm talking about the "compromises" being permanent not the budget

So what is Trump?

Incompetent, unprepared, bumbling?

Compromiser?

Or Evil Genius?

Because Salon seems to give a lot of deference to his competence.... a guy who can't get what he claims to want in his first budget, his signature campaign promise unfounded, and yet...

He's going to destroy American democracy:

The left is no different than the "Obama will usher in Sharia Law" right

The left and the right are caricatures of each other.

Is that so..?
SALON has 130,000 subscribers, so basically we're talking a tiny fringe

and yes Trump is unprepared and bumbling
and destined to compromise because he doesn't know what he's doing
(isn't that obvious already)
He can't just loud talk his way around congress like he can with his supporters
He'd rather organize a rally - which he does frequently - than work with congress to get anything done

He has a scant and fleeting relationship with truth
so he's alienating himself from the people who would like to help him

He's painting himself into a corner
in 6 months he'll be completely neutered by his own actions
at which point he'll blame everybody else (to his supporters at another rally)

Chizz, I suspect you may actually read fewer liberal news sites than either me or Cid.

Slate has something every other week about how Trump is going to destroy the power of the judicial branch or Trump is going create a Reichtag event or some other silliness. Huffpo and Raw Story, too. You can find these by searching Google easily.

I think it could well be used as a bargaining chip in Sept. This 5 month budget just agreed upon is small potatoes compared to what comes up in Sept (for the FY 18' fiscal year starting Oct 1). I can see Trump in Sept pointing back to April and saying, I was willing to compromise. I was willing to compromise on the wall, was willing to compromise on the democrat priorities of (insert your 5 billion of democrat priorities here). Now the democrats aren't willing to compromise on this second go around, blah, blah..

I wouldn't be surprised if he:
1. Insists on funding for the wall, and then at the end of Sept at the last minute, says he'll give up the wall BUT only if the donks are willing to go along with (insert a bunch of other Trump and/or conk big priorities here). He can play that card once, and he hasn't played it yet..
2. Or maybe he says fuck it, let the democrats in the Senate filibuster and do a partial of a govt shutdown..

Remember, the last time we had a so called "govt shutdown" in Oct 13', about 83% of govt spending continued. It was more hype than anything else. Fed workers either had to continue to work & get paid, or got furloughed and still got paid.

And the consensus among the "experts" was that the conks would be blamed & hurt in the 2014 midterms. But yet 13 months later the conks actually gained in the 2014 midterms...

My point is that there's a significant narrative that it is the right's base that was hysterical in recent memory- willing to buy all kinds of crazy memes born out of ignorance, stupidity and lack of education

If the last 3-4 months have proven anything, it is these two things:

1. Trump the Campaigner is the same as Trump the President

and

2. The right doesn't have a moron monopoly
