An illegal alien is a plain view arrest. It is a violation occurring right in front of a federal officer. Therefore - arrest

But the hiring of that illegal didn’t happen in front of anybody with arrest authority. So that means an investigation, prosecutors deciding to take the case, getting it on a docket.

So for now, as common sense as it is, your very populist solution of “lock up the CEO” isn’t going to happen until you demand that Congress dumps a sh1tload more money for more jackboots and concentration camps

and remember - 85% of those new people you’re hiring will be douchebags

But also keep in mind that a lot of these people are subcontracted. I went to an apartment one night on a call in ref to a disturbance. The apartment was full of Ukrainians. They were being trafficked to work for a janitorial company that seconded them over to the Charleston County Schools. It was a fairly intricate web that had to be unraveled and it took time and a detective to determine who actually brought them in.

You're thinking in terms of a straightforward crime - for example, we know who killed OJ Simpsons's wife

When you run across an illegal working at a chain hardware store, you don't automatically know whodunnit

(but you can find out... all it takes is resources)
