Then we should ignore Jelly's weak attempt to deflect from the points the cartoon scores in today's environment by criticizing the points it was making in 1934.

And just so we're clear on the points scored in today's environment:
  • Is the government spend, spend, spending under the guise of recovery? Yes.
  • Is the government taking on an increasing amount of debt (bust the government) as a result? Yes.
  • Are there people blaming capitalists and capitalism? Yes from Amazon and the pharmaceutical companies profiting from the Pandemic to blaming other societal ills on capitalism.
  • Are there people that want to "junk" the Constitution? Yes.
Quite the leaps there, Miss Rand.

The irony, Skelly is pointing out is legit. Not all New Deal programs worked but many did and continue to. Yet somehow...someway...still capitalists despite. Phew!

Should capitalism be held accountable for its downsides?
Please explain how they're "leaps".

Regardless of what one thinks about the New Deal, the irony of how well an editorial cartoon from 1934 applies to government in 2021 is interesting. Jelly doesn't appear to want to acknowledge that so he'd rather act like his Wonder Twin BDkkk, and distract from the irony by focusing on less relevant details.

I know that capitalism isn't perfect and has it's downsides. But I take exception to the idiots who don't understand economics and think that capitalism is de debil and the root of all society's problems without giving it any credit for the many wonderful advances that have greatly improved our quality of life.

The intent of the cartoon compared to what happened. Spending and debt are a part of capitalism too. They increase during crisis periods when capitalism fails to meet expectations of the average worker.

lol. Not leaps at all. The answers are definitive Yes's for every question asked....the cartoon is as relevant today as it was 90 years ago.

Was really hoping for one of your "both sides" posts. Would be a great time for it.

Since, you are not a fan of our Keynesian economic model that has governed us for almost the last century - what would be an example of an alternative that is working better? Any great countries led by an Austrian School model, for example? Or something else? :coffee:

But nice troll.

It must suck for you to have to see Reagan’s damage in real time ever since he left office. Meanwhile people around the world are still enjoying FDR’s policies to this day.

All we need now is a good new world war to prop up this Newest New Deal ... like it did for the last one - then we’ll be set for another 50 years until new runaway inflation brings back New Reaganomics

rinse repeat

SKKKJellly drastically oversimplified the stimulus to "we inject money into the economy when it is floundering" so I corrected it so that it more accurately represented what the stimulus bills have really been.
