"Poll: Majority says mainstream media publishes fake news

Nearly two-thirds of Americans say the mainstream press is full of fake news, a sentiment that is held by a majority of voters across the ideological spectrum.

According to data from the latest Harvard-Harris poll, which was provided exclusively to The Hill, 65 percent of voters believe there is a lot of fake news in the mainstream media.

That number includes 80 percent of Republicans, 60 percent of independents and 53 percent of Democrats. Eighty-four percent of voters said it is hard to know what news to believe online....."

I don't believe that report.

I've said/written many times that I have been involved in a number of circumstances that were big deal in that national news. Things like Hurricane Katrina's environmental impacts and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. And I've said/written that every time I've been involved in something that made big news the media got it wrong in many respects. Created false impressions.

But what's going on with Republicans right now is embarrassing. They are living in total denial of reality. Republicanism is becoming like a flipping cult.

And that's a shame because a year and a half ago I was looking at the Republican Party as the lesser of two evils. I was looking at it as the only hope for checking the destructive impact of the Democratic Party. Now I have to look at the Democratic Party as the only thing that can save us from the confederacy of nut jobs that the Republican Party has become.

Look, there is a problem with the thing where 80% of Republicans believe the "fake news" crap. What we've got is a large body of people supporting a major political party who are isolated from reality. That's why we're where we are now with this absolute atrocity and embarrassment as President. It's a serious problem.

Part of the believing the "fake news" crap, as you call it, is seeing it up close and personal in their every day lives. If the media reported news, instead of trying to be the news, it might be different. Trump is a result of this and the media has changed, and gone the wrong way, towards being the news, instead of reporting the news.

FOX is slanted far right and most the other mainstream is left to far left. Reuters is about as even as you can get.
