The man Phoenix police arrested Thursday for carrying four loaded guns inside the Phoenix Convention Center during Phoenix Comicon has been booked for attempted murder and several more charges. A judge set his bond at $1 million on Friday.

Police said 31-year-old Mathew Sterling made threats to harm a performer at the event. Police also believe he intended to attack officers as well.

According to court documents, Phoenix police received a call from the Hawthorne Police Department in California. Hawthorne police said a witness reported reading Facebook messages from Sterling who was posting pictures of Phoenix officers and threatening to shoot them.

Sterling resisted when approached by police at Phoenix Comicon and even ripped off an officer's police patch on his uniform, according to court paperwork. He was eventually overpowered and taken into custody.

Police say Sterling was armed with a shotgun and three handguns that were all fully loaded. He was also carrying a combat knife, pepper spray and throwing stars. Police said he was wearing body armor.

Im willing to bet anyone that dresses like a cop is going to get arrested and harassed, they dont like competition.

Cops already have too much power and the majority of them abuse it so we need guys like this to keep them honest and slightly uncomfortable.

Swing and a miss Dback

I'm surprised that more conks don't go after cops. Seems like the natural target for opponents of big government.

Cops are local, dipshit.

It's the big FEDERAL government that I'm afraid of...the local folks for the most part are not part of the problem...

Yeah but McCarthy ruined Mao for the hysterical collective Right
so all they've got left apparently is Alynsky
(Hey, work with what you've got)

This doesn't stop Republican Radio from trotting him out - as we see here on this forum
Every time Hannity and Rush name drop Alynsky we get threads about him here

Haven't you been on here before- talking about how we have a shrinking middle class, a sh1tload of dispossessed poor, and a few rich, and talking about how that is a powder keg?

If you're correct, then people shouldn't be concerned about political interests stirring that pot?

Personally I'm not too worried.... most people don't know how to live without the internet, smart phones and Cheetos

I'll be fine whatever happens

I don't listen to either Limbaugh or Hannity... I read left and right writings. Hildebeast was a big follower of Alinsky, and if you studied her, you'd know she wrote a graduate paper on Alinsky. And Obama was a follower as Alinsky was a community organizer in Chicago...Obamas hero

A good video of Alinsky and William Buckley...

Hell yes I have...
That's one of my favorite topics
(don't you dare try to take that away from me you bastard)

it's only a powder keg if you stop the poor from getting and staying on the dole
Minimizing the dole programs is really a bad idea
I mean seriously it's less than we spend policing the globe
and it keeps people fat and lazy (See: Not dangerous)

We need more William F. Buckleys. I disagree with him... but, he at least is very reasoned and makes compelling arguments. There are some on the right these days, but the only ones I can think of are Never Trumpers. Pretty sure Buckley would be horrified by the current GOP.

That can come later, in another venue; the resistance to a corrupting demagogy should take first priority.

That ^ era is gone forever...
And we can never go back there again - it's gone - it's a part of a different cultural aethstetic
The closest we can get is guys like Sam Harris and your generation shouts him down

And civil forfeiture abuse should be a bigger issue for opponents of big government. Local cops are all over that as well.

George Will has been completely sidelined by the Right and Fox News
Because he had the audacity to call Bill O'reilly a fraud
and he pointed out where Hannity is wrong

Plus he thinks Trump is a dangerous idiot...
So George Will is gone

There is no room on either side for intelligent dissension

Ross Douthat is who I was thinking about in the Buckley mold.

I don't see the Sam Harris - Buckley comparison, but ok...

Would Buckley even have existed if Gore Vidal just shouted "racist" at him?

No, local police chiefs and sheriffs are all over it

The rank and file is generally opposed - I got myself in hot water for telling the new chief in CHS that it was theft without due process

I rarely run across a street cop who disagrees with me

But please continue with that brush- I'll get Chizzain to rent you some of his time on Hubble

Are local police chiefs and sheriffs not "cops"? Does "cop" only refer to "rank and file"?

That's a mighty small nit you're trying to pick.

Buckley and Harris are completely different stylistically
But they both want to "talk" about things that are of larger concern
and urge those who disagree with them to enter into the debate
and actually "have a dialogue" and make salient points

No, they largely aren't, especially over the last couple decades. They are hand picked by mayors or governors, or elected big government hypocrites.

Maybe if you knew more cops or had navigated that world you would know the difference.

I guess that B list broad who imitated cutting off Trump's head is "actors"?

Had a Miami cop in the family for a while. Cops beat their wives at a pretty good per capitalism rate.
