We heard a lot about how Gianforte was acting "manly" by body slamming a reporter for asking about the TrumpCare CBO score.

This is a better example of manliness, imo.

Even before their names were released, one word repeatedly came up to describe the men who were killed in a stabbing Friday on a light-rail train in Portland, Ore.: heroes.

They had tried to intervene, police said, after another passenger began “ranting and raving” and shouting anti-Muslim insults at two young women.

That’s when the ranting passenger turned his anger toward those who sought to calm him down. He fatally stabbed two men and seriously injured a third, police said, before fleeing the train on foot.

“Two men lost their lives and another was injured for doing the right thing, standing up for people they didn’t know against hatred,” Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said in a statement Saturday. “Their actions were brave and selfless, and should serve as an example and inspiration to us all. They are heroes.”

Police on Saturday identified the two slain victims as 53-year-old Ricky John Best and 23-year-old Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche.

The third victim, 21-year-old Micah David-Cole Fletcher, is being treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

“They were all attacked because they did the right thing,” Wheeler said.

Police arrested 35-year-old Jeremy Joseph Christian, of north Portland. Local media reports described Christian as a “known white supremacist” in the area, and his Facebook page showed a long history of posting racist and extremist beliefs.

According to witnesses, a white male passenger riding an eastbound MAX train early Friday afternoon began yelling what “would best be characterized as hate speech toward a variety of ethnicities and religions,” police said. Some of the slurs were directed at two female passengers, one of whom was wearing a hijab, according to police.

You are making assumptions based on race. I get it and get where you are coming from. But that doesn't mean every white guy that isn't killed by police is the recipient of " White Privilege" Maybe the cop(s) are better trained. Maybe the initial threat is neutralized.

Being honest, I can't see you images. I see no problem disarming this fellow as he walks by me in enclosed quarters. If I blend is with the scared normals until he passed I can break one of his arms in an instant.

Meanwhile, i've read 5 articles and not one has said how he was arrested. I did read one that said he was shot in the face by Portland PD years ago when he robbed a store. Dude sounds like a complete dirt bag.

Hard to know if it would have been different t if he were black. But, people have definitely been shot for action g like him while under arrest.

An academic study from researchers at Brunel University London assessed 171 men, looking at their height, weight, overall physical strength and bicep circumference, along with their views on redistribution of wealth and income inequality. The study, published in the Evolution and Human Behavior journal, ​found that weaker men were more likely to favor socialist policies than stronger men.

Brunel University's Michael Price believes this may be a product of evolutionary psychology.

"This is about our Stone Age brains, in a modern society," said Dr. Price. "Our minds evolved in environments where strength was a big determinant of success. If you find yourself in a body not threatened by other males, if you feel you can win competitions for status, then maybe you start thinking inequality is pretty good."

Taking his assessment one step further, Price wanted to factor in gym time to see if he could determine the relationship flow between strength and socialistic leanings. Are men who are naturally strong more inclined to hold capitalistic views, or are men with capitalistic views driven to go to the gym?

"When Dr Price factored in time spent in the gym some, but not all, of the link disappeared," notes The Times, suggesting there may be something to men with capitalistic views hitting the gym.

"Of course this isn’t rational in modern environments, where your ability to win might have more to do with where you went to university. Lot of guys who are phenomenally successful in modern societies would probably be nowhere near as successful in hunter gatherer societies," added Price.

Other studies in the past have also suggested stronger men are more right-wing than physically weaker men. "Researchers found that men's opinions on redistribution of wealth could be predicted by their upper body strength, with powerful men more likely to take a conservative stance of protecting their own interests," noted The Telegraph of a 2013 study from Aarhus University in Denmark.

I saw a murder victim behind the homeless shelter in Charleston once- she was a hooker who had a disagreement with a john over the price. He stuck a steak knife in her liver and she was essentially dead when she hit the ground

With a knife and a basic understanding of anatomy, you can take on a large number of opponents successfully
