"A 25-year-old Federal contractor was charged Monday with leaking a top secret NSA report — detailing how Russian military hackers targeted US voting systems just days before the election.

The highly classified intelligence document, published Monday by The Intercept, describes how Russia managed to infiltrate America’s voting infrastructure using a spear-phishing email scheme that targeted local government officials and employees....."

"...The 25-year-old woman who stole “Top Secret” documents from the National Security Agency and leaked them to The Intercept appears to be a supporter of Bernie Sanders and other progressive icons, such as Bill Maher and Michael Moore.

Reality Leigh Winner’s apparent social media footprint also shows that she is a supporter of other liberal causes, including the Women’s March and the Islamic Society of North America, the Muslim civil rights group.

She also recently referred to President Trump as a “piece of shit” because of his position on the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) protests.

Winner was indicted in federal court on Monday after she allegedly stole classified documents from her employer, Pluribus International, a defense contractor that does work for the NSA from its offices in Augusta, Ga...."

Sounds like Pluribus International has some major explaining to do...

She's a heroine. Getting our asses handed to us on the cyber front is shameful. We're supposed to be good at that shit, the French swatted Russian hacking attempts like a mosquito.

Not surprising you would consider her a heroine.

It's some kind of secret that our cybersecurity sucks?

BTW, why can't we do anything to the media outlets that publish this stuff?

Why hasn't the NSA released this info themselves?

I thought about that.

At what point does the public deserve to know? What about sunlight, dammit!

They have released this information.

From the October 7 2016 IC statement on Election Security (they weren't able to say it was Russia for sure at that time):
Some states have also recently seen scanning and probing of their election-related systems, which in most cases originated from servers operated by a Russian company. However, we are not now in a position to attribute this activity to the Russian Government. The USIC and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) assess that it would be extremely difficult for someone, including a nation-state actor, to alter actual ballot counts or election results by cyber attack or intrusion. This assessment is based on the decentralized nature of our election system in this country and the number of protections state and local election officials have in place. States ensure that voting machines are not connected to the Internet, and there are numerous checks and balances as well as extensive oversight at multiple levels built into our election process.

Nevertheless, DHS continues to urge state and local election officials to be vigilant and seek cybersecurity assistance from DHS. A number of states have already done so. DHS is providing several services to state and local election officials to assist in their cybersecurity. These services include cyber “hygiene” scans of Internet-facing systems, risk and vulnerability assessments, information sharing about cyber incidents, and best practices for securing voter registration databases and addressing potential cyber threats. DHS has convened an Election Infrastructure Cybersecurity Working Group with experts across all levels of government to raise awareness of cybersecurity risks potentially affecting election infrastructure and the elections process. Secretary Johnson and DHS officials are working directly with the National Association of Secretaries of State to offer assistance, share information, and provide additional resources to state and local officials.
https://www.dhs.gov/news/2016/10/07/joi ... r-national

From the January 6 Intelligence Assessment:
Russian intelligence obtained and maintained access to elements of multiple US state or local
electoral boards. DHS assesses that the types of systems Russian actors targeted or
compromised were not involved in vote tallying.
Russian Cyber Intrusions Into State and Local
Electoral Boards. Russian intelligence accessed
elements of multiple state or local electoral boards.
Since early 2014, Russian intelligence has
researched US electoral processes and related
technology and equipment.
 DHS assesses that the types of systems we
observed Russian actors targeting or
compromising are not involved in vote tallying.

Granted, Reality Winner's release is MUCH more detailed. But, that's also why it is and should be a serious crime - it reveals US intelligence methods.

The intelligence assessments were scoffed at when they were released because they just provided a summary and didn't provide "proof." The proof would have been too compromising to release publicly.

I don't think the IC is trying to hide this from us. But, it's never going to reveal sources or methods unless it's absolutely necessary.

The general info is already known.

The raw intelligence itself can reveal sources and methods, which can compromise all sorts things, even get people killed (unless the Chinese and Russians have suddenly turned nice)

Use common sense

Fortunately for us, both the media outlet and the traitor were morons

I don't view this as encouraging in terms of the government's ability to crack down on this crap, because the case was basically handed to them on a silver platter

But there is growing evidence that in return for accepting a security clearance, there may need to be a requirement to report all of your social media presence. This idiots clearance could have been yanked based on her twitter posts alone

No.
.67 x 180 = 120.6
Your theory doesn't add up.
