Panic Buying On Guns, Ammo, Reloading Supplies..

Rumors of the ultimate loss of our second amendment rights sends enthusiasts flocking to sporting goods stores to "load up" on semi-automatic rifles and pistols, ammunition, and reloading supplies. Box primers are said to be in such short supply, that new shipments will likely cost much more than those on the shelves, and may well have to be rationed. Some have suggested that a sinister and secret government plot to secure the nation's supplies of primers exists to gain control of all sources of ammunition.
It is all over the headlines this morning, but I am referring to the panic that took place exactly 16 years ago. I still have around five thousand rifle primers sealed up and put away........from the last panic.

I am getting a little worried....why is it my fucking problem that the Mexicans are buying guns to use for killing? Seriously..shouldn't that be the Mexican govt.'s problem?

Yup, we get the blame for the demand for drugs, I will agree with that. As for the guns going the other way, if that is in fact going on, it is on our little brown neighbors to put a stop to that.
FUCK Mexico anyways, they don't have a real government, and the jury is still out on whether it even qualifies as a country.
Point I was trying to make is, if you are legitimately short of reloading supplies, etc for say, the next year or so, get out and get it. Other than that, sit tight, this panic market is doomed to crash- hard.

I still do not understand why anything over a hunting rifle and handguns can be sold in gun stores. Why does any person need an MP5 or M16 or an AK47.... why? I know it is our right, but it is stupid and now through Arizona and other states they are going to other countries and it is our problem.
I do not really even see the need for a handgun, but I see no reason for it be restricted. automatics and certain highpower semiautomatics shouldn't even be produced to be sold.

Ironically, anytime there is a concerted voice to limit, control, or other wise register guns in our country, it creates a panic buying frenzy again. Sixteen years ago people who may have only had a .22 rifle or less around the house suddenly had AR-15s, Uzis, Mac-10s, and 1911s all over the house. People who may have never considered going right down and buying any gun are standing in line to get a Glock.
When all is said and done, very little can be done. The gun/ammo industries love these kind of things.
One more thing that appears to be happening this time that I don't remember the last go around, big runs on regular .22 ammo.

I wouldn't be suprised if the gun/ammo industry wasn't behind all these panics...

There was a commenter on a DM Register article about this whose username was "someonesgunshop". Naturally, he was stirring up all kinds of doomsday predictions. I commented and said that that really wasn't kosher of him to fearmonger to drum up business.

dgreco, let me spell it out for you. When the towelheaded hoarde comes rolling over the hill, I won't be able to pull the trigger fast enough on my Glock 9MM to get them all...plus, the M16 is MUCH more efficient for laying down cover fire for my wife and kids as they change firing positions atop our compound to get to the prepositioned weapons and ammunition stored in key locations for just such an occurrence.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to wait until the hysteria settles and prices come back down before replenishing your arsenal? Or are people really convinced that Obamer's comin'ta git yer guns, dur-hurr

I also long for the good old days of those World War I "Big Berthas" that fired shells as big as Volkswagens. Now THOSE were firearms! Could clear out some badazz gangs with one shot.

Makes good economic sense, but you risk being caught unarmed when UN troops from Tonga and Bangladesh arrive in their black helicopters. Don't forget to turn your street signs.

20 years ago you might have been able to play Jed but you're well earned experience and wisdom make that unreasonable today.
And be careful, my Dad was a naval aviator back when planes had props.
