Project Cassandra

Crazy (and depressing) article out by Politico about how an investigation into an Iran-Contra type of setup was pretty much shut down early in Obama's 1st term. Very long read.

https://www.politico.com/interactives/2 ... stigation/
The Justice Department declined requests by Project Cassandra and other authorities to file criminal charges against major players such as Hezbollah’s high-profile envoy to Iran, a Lebanese bank that allegedly laundered billions in alleged drug profits, and a central player in a U.S.-based cell of the Iranian paramilitary Quds force. And the State Department rejected requests to lure high-value targets to countries where they could be arrested.

It is going to take a while - probably several years...

But the things we gave away so as not to upset the last Administration's "big win" are going to come out - and they will boggle the mind

(Even more mind boggling than a planeload of cash)

Whether the revelations come out before or after Iran actually has a nuke is anyone's guess

I pretty much hated the way the Obama administration handled everything in the Middle East
right down the line - so this news does not surprise me

:ohno:

Why specify or single out the Middle East? Tell me ONE area of foreign relations that he didn't just suck balls (or suck off). He kowtowed to every single foreign dignitary on his 8-year apology tour.

The Politico article is an interesting and depressing read...the Project Casssndra folks busted their butts gathering good hard information only to have State and Justice block them at almost every turn...

LOL - Obama ran circles around the foreign policy disasters that were Bush and Trump.

If you mean Obama didn't mount any new invasions, then yeah, he'd be better than Bush by a hair.

As for Trump, we'll have to wait and see. So far he hasn't done any worse or any better than the last two.

But as the world is beginning to find out (for the 44th time), the ramifications of a President's foreign policy generally echo well after they are gone (and accountable to voters)

"At least he didn't invade anyone" is not the hallmark of a successful foreign policy

Objectively, no. But of course nobody else has had a successful foreign policy either. :coffee:
