Now this could be interesting. Trump tweets:
The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc. We must protect our Country at all cost!
That's in an article at
https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/ ... all-319627 ; which also contains this statement:
Democrats have said they will not sign on to a bill next month to keep the government funded without a deal to protect Dreamers, undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children and in many cases have no relationship to their country of birth.
So are we going to have a showdown over that? Polls pretty much indicate that about 2/3 of Americans want to protect the Dreamers while only about 1/3 of Americans want a border wall. Here's an article on that:
https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/ ... -poll-says
That article actually has the lowest estimate of the percentage of people who oppose the wall I've seen but still shows the "anti wall" position as far more popular. Most polls I've seen over time are more along the lines of the 63% oppose vs. 33% favor estimates in the poll at
http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2017/image ... rspoll.pdf.
Would the Republicans in Congress be stupid enough to have a shutdown over Trump's wall fetish when most Americans don't even want that wall? Will they fall into a "The compassionate Democrats want the help the Dreamers who are here through no fault of their own but the mean old Republicans want to build a stupid wall" trap with the 2018 elections season just starting up?

I don’t know, John. What does your liberal friend Hillary think?

She probably thinks he's an idiot. And if she does, she's correct in her assessment.

I'd be surprised if meaningful immigration reform is done by either party. However, if there is one president to truly push to get it done it would be Trump, so while the odds of it getting done are minuscule, they are still a tiny but higher than if anyone else was POTUS.
Hell, well all know hillary "superpredator" clinton and the rest of the donks don't give a fuck about immigration*.
*Unless it's an election year in which they are pedaling for Team Brown votes.

The last so called ‘govt shutdown’ was like a 17% govt shutdown, ie a govt slowdown. There is no such thing as a govt shutdown.

But 93 will still come on here and scream bloody murder even though it will just end up being a paid vacation for him.

The Agency I work for now doesn't shut down, as its funding doesn't go through traditional channels.
During the 2013 shutdown, I worked for DoD and was furloughed. Contrary to popular belief, there's no guarantee of back pay, especially with the clown we have in the White House now. He already has a Labor advisor (James Sherk) who is gunning for federal employees. If I lose a penny, Trump won't get my vote in 2020 if he's still around. That's how I roll.

It’s the [93] economy.

Don't read too much into it, 93 is a guaranteed down ticket conk voter and everyone on this board knows it.

It's only backfired on them twice, so, yes, they probably are that stupid.

Location: Baltimore Inner Harbor
Meeting: 7171 and 93
Reason: Phillies box tickets and parking pass
Post hand off: Watch faggotty security approach 93 for parking in the turn around loop. I stand by. Words exchanged. Are you Port Authority? No, DOD. Whats that. 93 gets in his car and drives away.

It's been proven over the last 20-25 years. Federal gov't shut down means nothing. Workers "laid off" get back pay. everything gets paid for. Who gives a fuck?

Those Port Authority pricks think they rule the Inner Harbor. Fucker tried to make me move when my office was in the Baltimore WTC. I told his lazy ass, who wouldn't get out of his car, I work here and was dropping stuff off in the building. And that if he wasn't parked there, I'd be fine. He got out of his car, started writing a ticket. I took a picture of my car, his parked in the temp loading spot and my badge. Got back and he was gone. No ticket.
Lazy fucking gov't workers are the scurge of our country. OSBF, you too.

Very true, but we have Mr. Unpredictable running shit now. He might be the one to break the string.
Plus, James Sherk (mentioned earlier) wants another pay freeze for 2019, and far worse, wants to do away with federal share of our pension and health plan contributions. That would effectively be a ~5 percent pay cut for federal employees. He also is exploring changing the high-three basis for retirement payout calculation to high-five or even (gasp) career yearly average.
I'm just hoping all this shit happens for new employees only. I have 22 years federal service and can retire in 10. Not fair to change the rules for people well into their careers.

I didn't get a raise, not even price of living for 12 years. (but my health insurance never went up) under the last 2 years of Bush and 8 years of Obama. I'm not really concerned for Federal workers not getting a raise, except for you buddy.
I can't imagine this new rule effecting all fed workers for past years. It's just how it works. You're under contract, ex post facto and some such shit.

You can sell out the new guys in the next contract negotiation and get a signing bonus.
