Ivytalk Considering Run for DE AG on Libertarian Ticket

Post by Ivytalk »

Started mulling over this option as I was taking my morning dump.

Pluses:
1. I'd be a lead-pipe cinch to get the LP nomination if I sought it, despite being a party member for less than a year.

2. The personal satisfaction of going after the current Donk AG, who is a total azzhole, in debates (if he runs again).

3, Running the Delaware DOJ for 4 years, and clearing out some deadwood in Dover.

4. Unabashedly supporting legislation to legalize recreational marijuana. I'd pick up a few black and brown votes there.

5. A decent salary for a retired guy.

6. Not having to raise campaign funds. Hell, I'm a Libertarian!

Negatives:

1. Dr. Mrs. Ivy would file for divorce immediately.

2. I'd get maybe 1% of the vote, whether I campaign (unlikely) or sit on my azz and run a social media campaign (likelier).

3. Never prosecuted a criminal case. For some reason, that's a big negative for an AG candidate, even though the whole State is his/her client.

4. I really enjoy my life in retirement and have practiced enough law for a lifetime, thanks.

5. Less time on CS.com.

6. Unwanted political advice from CS.com.

7. Having to press the flesh with the Hoi Polloi at the State Fair during the hottest week of the year.

8. Having to lobby the Donk governor and the Donk legislature for funds to run my department if I can't drain the swamp.

9. Spending less time in Sussex County.

10. Spending more time in Wilmington and Dover.

Right now, I'm leaning against. 8-) Thoughts?

Well, the good thing is, since you're going Libertarian you won't have to worry about winning. I'll vote for you for shits and giggles.

Actually no. What's in it for me? Send me your proposal and I'll weigh my vote. You have my ear.

How about Dover? As in, bend over. Like you're bending over to take it up the butt? Huh huh. Get it?

That's the one that perplexes me. We're a deep blue state and the Donk Governor is against recreational weed.

I am getting impatient with the six states and a district within a three hour drive of me who won't legalize sales. All it takes is one.

Go for it. I'm sure we will all declare residency and pad that vote count.

I say do it, just for the chance to get into a debate with the guy. Plus, you can walk through the UD tailgates in the fall and meet all the voters. If you can get two big dogs (St. Bernard-like) and bring then with you, and maybe dye your hair white, people will think you're Bill Roth and you might get a few more votes.

Man, those St Bernards softened up everyone. I remember at Returns Day parades in Georgetown, everyone was getting wet wondering when Bill Roth and the St Bernards would be passing by.

That gimmick worked, at least in Slower DE!

Hey, Ivy! Aren’t you glad I didn’t make a quip about that part?

Sure am! And bluehenbillk can vouch for the Sussex County version of His Royal Whiteness (RIP Richie Ashburn).

Persecuted? Hell, I'm going to build a big beautiful wall at all major points of entry from the great state of New Christie. Including the Cape May-Lewes ferry.

And don't get me started on those NJ goombahs who were barreling down the "fast" lane of Rt. 13 in the blizzard yesterday. :tothehand:

Yeah, it's a shame Roth lost to that boring do-nothing Tom Carper in his last race. :ohno:

Would a non-lawyer be a good candidate for AG???

Having lawyer Jeff Sessions as our current USAG suggests that the answer is yes!
