Can’t agree on anything here, cannot remember the last good halftime show. Also, the tax cuts are a great thing, most people will have more money this year.

For once, I agree with Ahold Guy.

The last decent one was the Tom Petty show, but that one was especially "bleh".

Commercials generally sucked, too.

This one was bad but I really though last year was pretty well done. Lady Gaga put on a good show.

You're right. I've obviously erased everything to do with that SB from my head.

If you didn't like the Halftime show then you're basically just saying that you're old. Timberlake rocks, and he put on a great show and touched on so many of his hits, I'm sure mostly songs very few people here know. It's just part of getting older.

The last few half-time shows have been great; I enjoyed the performance last night.

Was Lady Gaga available?

Timberlake was great last night. As was Gaga and Prince in recent years. Bruno Mars did a fantastic job also.
For once I agree with GF. Its a sign of getting elderly.

And I think Aho Old Guy is Cappy in disguise.

It's not a sign of age, it's a sign of crotchety old age. Cappy doesn't like the old fart bands or God. I didn't think it was bad and my wife liked it. She's younger than me though, by a month.

Didn’t watch the halftime show. Was he a lip syncing fraud like so many in the past have been?

The band wasn't live, people noticed the trombone player wasn't doing any sliding.

They were meh. The Eli Manning commercials were weird but I laughed when they went into the Dirty Dancing number. :thumb:

The thing about JT - is that he's one of those few guys that can actually sing. He doesn't need auto tune.

Having said that - the audio was god awful so who knows.

How about the Freddie Mitchell cameo getting a selfie with Justin Timberlake in the stands? I thought halftime was good, but as an Eagles fan the game was much better!

"Timberlake rocks"?

:ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

Jesus Tap Dancing Boy Band Christ, Ganny............... :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

I'm sure JT is a nice dude and he's an avid golfer which gives him some cred in kalm's book. Did you know that one song about looking in the mirror was written for his wife (who is smoking hot btw)? For their wedding? I do. My wife reminds me every fucking time he's on the radio or TV like last night.

I get that music is a personal thing. Like when my oldest (god bless his soul) makes fun of my youngest and the wife for listening to "chart music" like JT and Bieber. I took a dump during last night's performance but I'm sure it was great if you're in to choreographing, people pretending to play an instrument, and techno/hip hop ballads that make young girls cry.

Just to help you out...here's a few examples of things that "rock"....

The standard around the world is that lip syncing is acceptable during choreographed performances. America is one of the few places that actually gives singers grief for it, even though it seems like an unrealistic expectation to have performers singing, dancing, and running around everywhere at the same time. I imagine Broadway singers would have a tough time with that much action, let alone your regular pop artist.

JT was definitely lip syncing last night, but it's a whatever in my opinion.

I have a bro-mance with Justin Timberlake. It's embarrassing, but I love his songs. They are different, very different, from the garbage that's popular these days. And yes, he can actually sing.

Dave Grohl runs around the stage, playing solo's and while talking to the fans. Your local high school can march around and play trumpets, trombones, horns, etc... It's not impossible. Someone at JTs level can do it (and he can) but events like the Super Bowl for some reason are a different animal where it's easier to just lip sync.

 I agree. I don't have a bromance - I don't care for his music however I watched a performance of his in Nashville where he sang "Friends in Low Places" with Garth Brooks and he killed it.

He also sang, quick walked and still was able to play the guitar w/o missing a beat. :thumb:

I don't think you can compare a rock artist running around on stage (and stopping when he feels like it), to a highly-choreographed and sometimes physically intensive performance. Fair or not, pop and hip-hop come with an expectation of intricately choreographed dancing. For. Every. Song.

It's very much about the entire performance rather than just the songs.

edit: Rock also has more vocal downtime in the music itself.

You missed the point. The point was that it's totally possible to sing, play an instrument and move around. I've never been, but I bet when he was with n*Sync, he sang and danced. It's a skill. Singing and dancing is a skill. Otherwise, all those folks on Broadway are con artists.

Just admit you hate Americans and be done with it. Your mom has won the battle.
