“In my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration,” Colonel Peters wrote in his message, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times.

“Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association,” he added. “Now I am ashamed.”

Without citing them by name, Colonel Peters, 65, wrote that Fox News’s prime-time anchors “dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the F.B.I., the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller.”

“I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove,” he wrote.

Here's how I would spin this if I were someone like Ben Rhodes:

Out of all the major networks, only one of them had a journalist with any integrity: FOX

Meh. Peters took their money for ten years and then cut the cord. Fox News hasn’t suddenly changed its spots.

Yeah no kidding.

I’m guessing he’s just a Never-Trumper near retirement anyway.

Like all the courageous senior executive service types with 30 years “service” at my workplace

I get my news from Reuters, so I'm not familiar with him or today's Fox or NY Times for that matter.

I think it has changed its spots in a way. Similar to the "Religious Right." Also Rush Limbaugh. Others. For many years character was important. Now it's not.

Look, something different is up now. Like you can rag on George Will. He left the Republican Party after decades because of the Republican Party embracing Trump. You can rag on my wife. She held a Ronald Reagan election Party as a young woman in 1981 and was a devout Republican throughout. She worked her ass off to get elected as a member of the State Republican Central Committee then engaged her responsibility thoroughly for about a decade before the Republican Party nominated Trump. Then she resigned and also canceled her Republican Party membership because she felt the Republican Party was no longer proceeding according to the values she believes in.

People on the "conservative" side rallying behind Trump is not good. It's not good for the conservative movement and it's not good for the country. And it is not "the same" as it's been in the past.

I used to defend Fox News as well as people like Rush Limbaugh. But there is no defending the way they've stuck their head up Trump's anus. It's different now.

John,
Weren't we just talking about sliding morality
I wouldn't judge the Religious Right to harshly, sliding scale morality is a human condition

They were for Hillary and she would have been a perfect President so, never.
