I don't even take Evangelicals as if they're serious Christians anymore. They're one of the most likely religious groups to get divorced/remarried, have premarital sex and children born out of wedlock, be against policies helping the poor, and have little knowledge of the Bible. The religious beliefs of most Evangelicals are arguably not even Christian anymore; it’s the Cliffs Notes version of the New Testament.css75 wrote:I hate when crap like that happens. Evangelicals are 26% of the US population, so there is a greater probability you will see these things happen to Evangelicals over any other religion.∞∞∞ wrote:I don't even take Evangelicals as if they're serious Christians anymore. This one GOP rep is not the problem.

Why don't you come to my office at the State House and say that to my face.89Hen wrote:* hypocriteIbanez wrote: Right. Fucking hypocrites.

Then own up to it. My beef with Evangelicals is their incessant need to create a Theocratic nation, especially when their version of theocracy revolves around the suppression of opposing ideologies. And on top of that, the religious hypocrisy coming from Evangelicals is mind-boggling.Gil Dobie wrote:They are human and do dumb stuff just like any other group.∞∞∞ wrote: And?

They should be called out for the faux-Christianity. Every. Single. Time.
It's a political movement pretending to be religion.

My beef with socialists is the incessant need to create a government dependent nation, especially when their version of "democracy" revolves around the violent suppression of opposing ideologies.∞∞∞ wrote:My beef with Evangelicals is their incessant need to create a Theocratic nation, especially when their version of theocracy revolves around the suppression of opposing ideologies.
You act as if Capitalism with social safety nets equates socialism. Like we don't have that now.AZGrizFan wrote:My beef with socialists is the incessant need to create a government dependent nation, especially when their version of "democracy" revolves around the violent suppression of opposing ideologies.∞∞∞ wrote:My beef with Evangelicals is their incessant need to create a Theocratic nation, especially when their version of theocracy revolves around the suppression of opposing ideologies.
Are there any Christian ones? Asking for a friend.∞∞∞ wrote:But yes, enjoy one of the many theocratic states in the world.
I'm honestly not sure. There are many nations where Christianity has a large dominant role in society and politics though. They might not be theocracies in a technical sense, but the separation of state and church is severely blurred...which is what the founding fathers painstakingly avoided.89Hen wrote:Are there any Christian ones? BTW, Vatican City doesn't count.
There's wiggety wacks in all groups, like I said before. Who knows, maybe one day one of them crazy Evangelicals might become one of your friends.∞∞∞ wrote:Then own up to it. I have Evangelical friends. I completely oppose them politically and think their religion is a joke (and they know), but I share beers with them. That's the beauty of America.Gil Dobie wrote:There's wiggety wacks in all groups, like I said before.
