Trump Economic Adviser... "Deficit coming down"

Trump lying to America has now been extended to his Economic Advisers... Who know better
But do it anyway
Here's the quote:
“The deficit, is coming down, and it's coming down rapidly.”
Graded by every metric as false - even by Fox News financial analysts
But here we are with this administrations pervasive systemic lying right out in the open as loudly as possible
Because they know their CORE demographic does zero research
One Economist called the claims "Laughable, were they not almost criminally negligent.."

Both parties do it and it’s sad.

We're past that now by a million miles my friend
Instead of the occasional lie
We've now got an administration that lies at every press conference
significant blatant lies
Please tell me you notice the difference
that this is beyond the norm of political distortion - we're in bizzaro land now days

As JSO would point out, this is just the continuation of a trend that began before Trump.
Please tell me you know that.

If you think this isn't an unusual blatant over the line amount of lying
Then I guess we'll just have to disagree
I've been fascinated by it
We've got Trump sometimes tweeting 5 or 6 lies a day
and then his advisers mostly dismissing them the following day
Now we've got advisers rolling out the same doozies
This is a full on assault on "reality"

Yeah, no problem.
So nothing incorrect then.

Nah, like I said, it’s a terrible progression.

Chia is right here, Obama did not lie except when his lips moved.
“If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” Probably the biggest deliberate lie in 20 years. Trumps lies are basically over hyping. And do not do the damage the aforementioned one did.

It was certainly easier to lie in the past - you could do a little voodoo math focused on a narrow metric, show a deficit reduction, and declare victory. Bill Clinton's people were good at that
Today that just isn't possible anymore - you can either come around to the reality most of us have been living with for the last few decades - that we are on a runaway train.... or you can just lie

I didn't expect I'd have many takers on this thread
I mean after all the game is now afoot
The Line dancing apologetics of the new Republican party is in full swing

No they don't. The Democrats do not do things like claim that the deficit is coming down when it's not.

Politifact has 14% of the Obama statements its rated as False or Pants on Fire. It's got 47% of Trump's statements rated as such.
The idea that Obama was even close to the level Trump is at in terms of bold face lying is laughable. Of course I know Trump zombies will attack Politifact because Politifact doesn't align with what Trump supporters want to believe.
But we have NEVER in the modern era (at least) had as dishonest a Presidential administration as this one is.

and at 15% Obama was pushing it too far...
but at 50% we've crossed over into a discussion about the nature of reality
(absolutely pathological)
and the GOP faithful would have us believe this is the new normal
Like this is just the next step in our political evolution

On this you are absolutely correct
Democrats in the past have simply denied that deficits were a big deal - that's the only real way to debate deficit spending... question whether or not it matters
The problem with the Democrats' past stance on the deficit is that it denies a century worth of evidence to the contrary - and ignores what is happening to countries (right in front of our eyes) that have outspent their GDP and borrowed for too long

Larry Kudlow has gone full retard on the right, much as Paul Krugman has gone full retard on the left.
Economists are just as capable as CS posters of going full retard.

From the NYT article:
An April report from the Congressional Budget Office projected that the federal deficit will rise from $665 billion in fiscal year 2017, which ended on Sept. 30., to $804 billion during the 2018 fiscal year.
If you are trusting CBO forecasts, I suggest looking at their history first.
I'm willing to wait to analyze the results.

Truth.
And the Dems have been at it much longer. Still, we ARE different than Greece and Argentina. And there’s also this...
“I’m not worried about the deficit. It’s big enough to take care of itself.”
