But I don't think she's like Trump. I think Trump is a psychopath. I'm not kidding either. I look at stuff like the discussion at https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog ... ychopath-0 and think, "THAT'S Trump."

I think this liberal babe is an idealist. Trump is NOT an idealist.
You completely missed the thrust of the article

No I didn't. I was responding to the headline. She's not the "Progressive Trump." The author drew certain similarities. But the woman is nothing like Trump. For one thing, she's genuinely liberal. Trump is not genuinely conservative. Trump just does what he thinks he needs to do to get what he wants at the time.

Responding to the headline.

Check.

You missed the point. The main difference between her and Trump is that she isn’t a sleazy rich real estate developer.

But she precisely emulates Trump in being low information, easily led by questionable media sources, lack of understanding or experience in government and civics, responding to critics with petty Twitter replies, etc etc

You’ll be fully defending her within a couple weeks and frankly that’s delicious

As I said the author drew parallels. One can find parallels between any two people. But the idea that she is like Trump from the standpoint of the "progressive" movement as Trump is from the standpoint of the "conservative" movement is absurd.

If you want to say they're both really ignorant I agree with that. But she's not like Trump.

Of course she’s not like Trump

She’s the progressive Trump

And she’ll be a superstar for the left

I think we’ve taken this “special olympics” thing too far, electing a borderline retard to congress.
Spoiler: show
I mean, come on, one as president was bad enough. But see what happens when you start a precedent?

Ocasio-Cortez actually BELIEVES what she says. Trump does not. She is an idealist. She has a real attachment to some kind of general philosophical orientation. Trump does not. Trump is just a complete con artist who says what he thinks he needs to say at the time, true or not (and almost always not), to get what he wants. She's not like that.

Again, missing the point

It isnt a direct comparison between Trump and Ocasio-Kotex

It it is a comparison between those who support them - why they appeal to people

your blind spot on Trump prevents you from doing a significant amount of critical thought

Ocasio Cortez is a freshman in Congress (or will be next month). One of 434 others. No leadership position. She had 100k vote for her.

You want to paint her as a leader of the Democrats or representative of Democrats. But... she's not in a position really comparable to the President.

she’s an elected official who has less understanding of our form of government than the guy who thought Guam was going to flip over from too many people.

Didn’t think donks could go stupider than that, but they’ve outdone themselves.

The guy whose name you'd have to google.

But, Ocasio Cortez is about the only topic on here these days. :?

She's getting just as much mileage from your favorite media sources as she is from conservatives

Just today Frank Bruni knifed Joe Biden in the back and put forth Ocasio as the exemplar the DNC should be looking for

You sound just like the people on the left AND right who were snickering about Trump in 2015... and now look at you - proctoring one of the biggest thread fizzles in CS history because the guy won and you can't fathom it could have happened without outside help

The realization that the left can support morons as easily as the right would be quite a revelation for you- but you'll never acknowledge it

sort of like you're doing here

I could agree with this if people would just point out she's a member of the house and not POTUS and leave it at that.

But I've seen enough "future of the Democratic party" comments as well as dumb editorials and blue check mark tweets commenting on how the GOP is "afraid" of "strawng wimmin of cullah" that the comparison makes sense.

Has she turned us into Iceland yet?

That would be cool.

You see, the great thing about the HoR, is that it's the "pulse of the people". A lot of crazy shit can and does get brought up there but rarely...RARELY makes it out of committee, not to mention through the Senate. The HoR reflects the people, as crazy as we are, and gives us the opportunity to put forth wild ass proposals but the "refined" and "measured" Senate usually squashes that crap.

The point of that is to say, while AOC is delicious fodder for criticism, she's 1 person with wild ass ideas who will likely amount to nothing in the end and will have a legislative record of dull successes that don't really inspire anyone or change the nation.

Normally I'd say you're right and move on....but it's a bit worrysome when she has 1.5 MILLION followers who a) believe stupid shit just like her, b) believe every single thing coming out of her mouth and c) look to her as a beacon of hope and the future of the party. Their wet dream is a Beto/Ocascio-Cortez ticket. :ohno: :ohno:
