ive law enforcement officers have reportedly been shot in Florence.

Florence, SC - Three Florence County Deputies and two Florence PD officers are reported to have been shot at an "active shooter," and the gunman is still believed to be engaging police in a gunfight at the time of this writing.

The incident is happening in Vintage Place off of Hoffmeyer Rd, according to WPDE reporter Tonya Brown, who reported that five officers have been shot.

The scene is still very active and Brown reports that West Florence High School is on lockdown.

Should be some very enlightening talk about race and gun control (or lack thereof) coming from both sides real soon

I googled Florence SC Shooting to check on updates and had to make sure the result was about THIS one, not any of the others that came up.

One officer has died.

Now it is 7 officers were shot, 1 dead.

Officers were serving a warrant in a "upper class neighborhood" when the person that the warrant was being served on opened fire.

I saw a quote from the Florence Co Sheriff saying the officers "thought they were serving just a random warrant"

That shows you the kinds of morons that get elected sheriff in SC (especially in Florence County)

I think good ol Sheriff may have meant to say a "ROUTINE" warrant...

Which brings us to Police Work 101 ... there is no such thing as a routine warrant, just as there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop

We won't hear about it (because it isnt juicy Morning Joe worthy) but when the lessons learned on this one come out, we'll know that two or three of these officers mosey-ed up to the residence, got shot through the fatal funnel of the front door, and then additional responding officers got shot as they showed up piecemeal to assist... or some variation on that theme

This is about as vanilla as an ambush shooting gets.. they have been happening routinely through the last century and this one... they get taught at the academies... and they still happen regularly

This stuff was Page 4 all the way up to the 90s until the internet took over
