Iowa doesn't have any Senators up this year but we do have our members of the House. Dipshit Steve King is my current rep. :ohno: He's getting a decent challenge this year from Democrat JD Scholten and people have been throwing money at Scholten like crazy. People are getting tired of King and I think it will be close but I will be surprised if he loses. If King loses to Scholten Scholten will be a one termer.

Iowa has 4 house districts and two of them are considered toss ups.

Our former governor for life Terry Branstad quit to be Ambassador to China and his Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds that moved into the chair is now running for her own term. The Fred Hubbell, the Democrat running against her, is a multi-millionaire, silver spoon, old white guy. The race is setting records for money spent and he's dumped something like $5 or 6 million of his own money into the race. This one is going to be close. The Libertarian Jake Porter is polling around 7%. He might sink the Republican. Reynolds refused to do any debates if Porter was invited. interesting fact - our current governor's mansion was originally owned by the Hubbell family until they donated it to the state.

We also have statewide races for Ag Secretary, Secretary of State, State Auditor, State Treasurer, and Attorney General. The amount of money being thrown at these races by the Democrats is crazy. The guy running for state auditor has raised $1.5M. The Ag Secretary race has been getting attention because of the influence of big ag in the state.

We have state senator and state representative and local races for county positions.

Iowa also has votes on retention of judges. We don't have initiatives in Iowa so no big issues like that on the ballot.

Donks will sweep most DE statewide offices: USSenate (Carper) , US House (Blunt Rochester), attorney general (Jennings). No Gov race this year.

GOP incumbent state treasurer, who may run for governor in 2020 (Simpler), will buck the Donk trend and win re-election

Both chambers of state legislature will remain Donk. Some really nasty local races going on.

I ended up going all D and a couple L on my ballot.

I didn't look at the party next to their name and used sites like vote411 for information on all of them.

When I went back to check my split I was shocked.

The guy I was initially for for governor would have beat Hubbell for the nod but got busted in the me too movement so I moved on.

Reynolds is just not a person I can vote for. Almost nothing ive heard.and read has given me reason to want her back.

Georgia is nuts.

No Senate seats are up this year, and the House seats that are, aren't generating much interest.

It's all about the Governor's race. On one hand, you have Stacey Abrams who is going full core hard progressive left...Medicaid expansion, Medicare for all, HOPE Scholarship to illegals, gun control, no voter ID etc. etc. etc.
On the other hand, you have Brian Kemp, the current Secretary of State (and my boss) deep red conservative.
It has been a loooooooong nasty campaign. The Donk party has poured tens of millions into her campaign. 65% of her funding has come from out of state. While 95% of Kemp's funds have come from in state. Abrams has about 150 full time paid staff, and an army of out-of-state volunteers cris-crossing the state. As is typical, Abrams has been screaming about voter suppression since day one, so the Democrats already have a line of lawyers waiting to file lawsuits once the election is over.

The polls have it neck and neck. With only about 2% undecided, there are virtually no swing voters in this race. It will all be about who gets out the vote. Voter turnout will crush records. I've heard of people waiting in line 4-5 hours to early vote. The good news is that early voters are running about +9 for the R's.
Abrams has Oprah and Obama coming in to campaign before Tuesday, while Kemp had Lara Trump yesterday, Pence will be in the state all day today, and Trump will be here on Sunday.

Wednesday can't get here soon enough.

South Carolina is voting on a Governor. Our current Gov, Henry McMasters stepped into office when Nikki Haley was chosen by Trump to be the Ambassador to the UN. He's running against a Democrat, James Smith, who is a veteran, a current legislator and attorney. Our Gov is in love with Trump...so that's one of many strikes against him. He's also under investigation for ethics violations.

Sec. of State Hammond, AG, Treasurer, Education Superintendent, Comptroller and Agriculture Commissioner are all up for re-election and will most likely win.

The 5th District - You've got Archie Parnell, a Democrat and wife beater. Ralph Norman, a Republican who waves his gun around with the safety off and his finger on trigger at rally's. Mike Chandler...i don't know him. I just saw his name today. Norman is currently representing the district. He beat Parnell last year in an special election after Mick Mulvaney left. Parnell is from Sumter, the very low corner of the district whereas Norman is from Rock Hill, which has become the "center" of the district - and influential due to it's proximity to Charlotte and all the money that flows from across the border.

And finally, a constitutional amendment to make the Education Superintendent an appointed position instead of an elected one.

Here in Maine Senator Angus King (I) will easily get re-elected. 1st District (Southern Maine) House incumbent Chellie Pingree (D) will also win easily.

The real battle is for 2nd District (Northern Maine) House seat. Incumbent Bruce Poliquin (R) vs. Jared Golden (D). A TON of money has been poured into this campaign and it has been nasty. Golden is a younger (30s) military veteran and has been gaining a lot of traction over the past few months. He worked in Susan Collins office at one time. This is considered a dead heat right now. There are 2 other candidates on the ballot and this race will use ranked choice voting. Stay tuned!

Governor's race is close. Maine could elect its first female governor and Maine AG Janet Mills (D) is leading Portland businessman Shawn Moody (R).

Our most interesting race and probably the only one in doubt is for County Executive. It's a big job and one that has more impact on my life than any other race. As is everything in my county, the Dem primary is really the election. The day my county elects a republican

So the County Council had term limits imposed on them this past year and several are getting the boot and were running for Exec. One of the losers of the primary is running as an "Independent". So it should come down to those two. The interesting thing is that the R that is running was the one who basically got the term limits for the Council done. He's a nut though. Any of you guys who have been in DC before actually have seen him at Bullets/Wizards games...

Tim Kaine-D (Senate)
Corey Stewart-R (Senate)

Gerry Connolly-D (House)
Jeff Dove-R (House)

Should a county, city, or town be authorized to provide a partial tax exemption for real property that is subject to recurrent flooding, if flooding resiliency improvements have been made on the property?

No

Shall the real property tax exemption for a primary residence that is currently provided to the surviving spouses of veterans who had a
one hundred percent service-connected, permanent, and total disability be amended to allow the surviving spouse to move to a different primary residence and still claim the exemption?

Yes

Shall Fairfax County, Virginia, contract a debt, borrow money, and issue bonds in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $182,000,000 to provide funds, in addition to funds from public safety facilities bonds previously authorized, to finance, including reimbursement to the County for temporary financing for, the costs of public safety facilities, including the construction, reconstruction, enlargement, renovation and equipment of civil and criminal justice facilities, police training and operational facilities and stations, fire and rescue training facilities and stations, including fire and rescue stations owned by volunteer organizations, and the acquisition of necessary land?

No

Local race I care most about is IL-13. Betsy Londrigan [D] trying to unseat Rodney Davis.

Rodney is a Trump lackey and I'd love to see him go down.

Usually a pretty solidly Republican district. Not much polling at all. It'll come down to turnout in urban areas.

Other races are pretty much between two shitty candidates.

By the way, Ivy, I didn't annotate it, but my reason for not voting for Simpler is because of an unethical waterfowl hunt he participated in in Texas several years ago that many people don't know about. He received six citations for wanton waste, citation of migratory birds, taking geese out of season, using lead shot, exceeding bag limit, no stamp.

He left 37 dead birds on the water. Ten of the birds were canvasback hens, which are in rapid decline in Texas. Bag limit at the time was one bird.

Fuck Ken Simpler.

I forgot about Question 1 in Maine......

"Do you want to create the Universal Home Care Program to provide home-based assistance to people with disabilities and senior citizens, regardless of income, funded by a new 3.8% tax on individuals and families with Maine wage and adjusted gross income above the amount subject to Social Security taxes, which is $128,400 in 2018?:"
