CID is right. There is a whole lot more "free" sh!t that Warren and Sanders are proposing then just healthcare and there aren't enough wealthy people with enough money to tax to pay for them so everyone's taxes are going to go way up.

Kalm, where does that saving half of what they currently spend come from? Most Americans are covered through their employer. Are they going to save half? There might be some savings but is it enough to offset a huge federal income tax increase? Another big chunk of people are already covered by the government (Medicare, Medicaid, military) so how are they going to save more when Warren is proposing a Medicare-for-all program? A fraction of America purchases insurance directly (US Census says 16.2%) so everyone's taxes are going to go up and 16.2% of the people will possibly see significant savings in healthcare costs. Now what happens when you open the borders and you have more people asking for government subsidized healthcare?

I purchase health insurance directly and the costs suck but I'm skeptical of our elected officials ability to craft a solution that really works especially when you know darn well that they're going to exempt themselves so they can keep their Cadillac plan.

That’s the left’s “Mexico will pay for it” bullshit right there

And somebody most certainly will pay for it. Just because Warren dodges the question on whose taxes will go up significantly (spoiler: the people who need the “savings” the most) doesn’t make the idea solvent

I’m not saying it will happen. Only that there are a number of examples from around the world where they spend significantly less with equal to or better outcomes and without bankrupting the nation or tax payers. So it can happen... except in the US evidently. I wonder why? :coffee:

Woah there, how dare you suggest the other 7.4 billion people out there come up with good ideas?

This is America dammit. If we didn't do it, it's garbage.

I guess the answer is somewhere between "serfdom" and half a million people going bankrupt over medical bills every year while healthcare execs collect eight - figure bonuses. :coffee:

I'm all for student loan forgiveness. :)

We can save around $6000/household just through removing for profit insurance, negotiated drug prices, and billing efficiencies.

I’m against using cascading government regulation to fix things that were at least partially precipitated by cascading government regulation

Their governments are more efficient? Less crooked?

I don’t know, you tell me. All I know is that ANYTHING our government gets involved in causes costs to skyrocket 3-6x what their initial “projections” indicate.

Medicare for all, and her dishonesty about it.

Also why Bernie doesn’t have a chance.

I think this is going to be Biden and Boot Edge Edge with advantage to Biden on the minority vote

You know that student loan forgiveness while it sounds good and appeals to the base isn't that simple for reasons I've already pointed out but ...

Let me ask how would it work? How would they handle private loans? The government couldn't "forgive" that loan.

How much of a student's total loans are government and how much is private?

I don't think this is the erase all my student debt panacea that people seem to think it is.

I want to know what they're going to do for the dumb saps who worked their ass off all through college, took 7 years to graduate, just so they WOULDN'T be saddled with a bunch of debt...or those folks who've already PAID their student loans. I mean, like reparations, how far back and how far reaching is this thing gonna be?

Because my mortgage now identifies as a student loan. :coffee: :coffee:
