I wish I was a billionaire so I could just light money on fire. I read something awhile back about how much money Steyer has spent between backing congressional candidates (virtually none of which one), impeachment, and now his candidacy. The consultants working for him have to be laughing all the way to the bank.
His whole ad was about big bad bankers and how they've stolen so much money from Americans since the recession...and how he and his benevolent wife started a "community non-profit bank" to share profits with the community. Yeah, motherfucker, it's called a CREDIT UNION. Acts like he fucking invented a concept that's been around for 150 years.
Today he rants about climate change and yet he made a big chunk of his money by investing in fossil fuels, particularly coal.

Tom Steyer? Who the fuck?
His ads have been plastered all over the Carolina's for months.

Yes, I realize that. We’ve had this discussion before. And I stand by my assertion that there’s lots of things we have now that started out as “support” for something.

I need to clarify something here. I voted for Trump last election and will again. Though, I am not enamored by his personality, tweets and other nonsense, the Democrats have not one candidate that comes even close to representing what I stand for, so my options are limited to him. In addition, he has done some good things for the country.

That's the problem. You do have options, even you don't think so.

1) Don't vote
2) Vote 3rd party
3) Vote Democrat

Our system could use a good 3rd Party. The other 2 have such a monopoly on the industry.

Why would you "not vote"? That's as good as casting a vote for the opponent, with whom you don't agree.

Honest question - what makes the Republican ideas any better? :coffee:
Depends on what's important to you, I guess.

I believe in/support:

1A rights - can't STAND the PC/cancel culture when you disagree with someone
2A rights - including 50-state concealed carry permits
Importance of strong, secure borders
low taxes/graduated flat tax or national sales tax in lieu of income tax
reduced regulation across the board
Kick out the UN & make NATO countries pay their fair share
Reduced government (including elimination of several departments)
Constitutional support (i.e., not scrubbing the system WRT electoral college, # of judges, etc.)
Climate change - but the answer is not death to capitalism
You borrow it, you pay it back (looking at YOU, student loan borrowers)
Balance budget amendment requirement

Where I diverge from typical "conservative" thought:

Shrink the military (and their mission), including majority of overseas bases
Legalize marijuana nationwide
Don't care what gays do or don't do - bake the fucking cake
Pro choice
Don't care much about any of the social/PC issues (gender, sexuality, bathrooms, etc)

I'm sure there are a few others....honestly the "social" issues carry zero weight with me. As far as I'm concerned, those are just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic if we don't get a few of the other "big" things figured out fairly soon.

Because you have the freedom to. Because you live in a county/state that is going to go for someone you have no intention voting for.

:thumb: I'm not a gun person so concealed carry isn't a big issue for me but I support it.

Do we need to kick the UN out? Can't we just move them to rural West Virginia or Wyoming?

Pro's: frees up some prime real estate for tax producing development; creates jobs in (what I assume is) an economically depressed state - both short-term construction jobs and long-term employment; might give 93 a place to ply his trade in a gun-friendly state (the UN has to purchase sh!t too); will save member countries a sh!t ton of money in rental, F&B and entertainment costs; pisses off the delegations who like to partake of all that NYC has to offer.

Con's: are there any?

AOC should be all over this. Having the UN is NYC is worse then Amazon.

You'd be surprised to read this but we agree. Especially on reducing the government (i'm looking at you Dept.of Education). The size of government is a huge issue with me, probably from my years in the defense industry.

I was raised in a conservative house and still hold on to those ideas. But I vote for the person. Not the party. Party be damned.

Sadly, that's the blunt truth.

I've said it many times: ALL the donks had to do was be the adult in the room. Put forth a normal, sane candidate with normal, sane policy positions. Instead, the ENTIRE field went full retard (or worse) and the entire party has singular focus on impeaching a duly elected president and it's gonna be very difficult to pull the lever for any of the current crop of Donks.

Hell I’m probably going to go one better than just hanging up my voting spurs

I may well retire outside the US... somewhere with fewer nannies and scolds (that’s about 80% of the world)... and I’ll still enjoy all the overseas advantages of US citizenship without all the US citizens
