Hillary Clinton took Virginia in 2016 with almost 2,000,000 votes.

About 1.1 million votes were cast tonight for democrats in the state.

Meaningful? Or not?

Sanders won Vermont by almost 30 pts, with Pocahontas in 3rd taking a chunk of the vote that otherwise would have gone to Sanders.

With 76% reporting:
Sanders 51
Biden 22
Pocahontas 12.45
Mini Mike: 9.3

Apparently they hit Bernie last month as well, with a little titty. Er, little titties.

Biden currently leading the delegate count:

Biden 273
Sanders 173
Buttpirate 26
Bloomberg 18
Warren 13

As soon as Warren has sucked votes away from Biden enough to cause him to lose a number of delegates.
She's hurting Sanders tonight.

Likely why DNC got Buttpirate and Klobie to drop out and endorse Biden and didn't touch Warren. They want her to stay and drain Bernie votes. Brilliant plan by the establishment. They know Bernie can't beat Trump, but Biden can.

Watching CNN is like watching the Democratic establishment - they still haven't called Utah for Sanders even though he's up by a mile and other places (NPR for instance) have already called it for Sanders. 600+ delegates up for grab in California and Texas, both of which will likely go for Sanders, and CNN's been pounding Biden's performance in the southern states.

Btw, why are they saying that it will be weeks before they finally count all of the CA votes? Why can't we run elections anymore and know within 24 hours who won?

Yeah, Fox called CA for Sanders immediately at 11pm. CNN is saying it's too close to call. Just one example.

Also, Fox has Karl Rove with a handheld whiteboard (WTF, btw) showing that Sanders will catch Biden in a near dead heat in delegates, if not a lead, when CA and TX are tallied.

Yeah, NPR and WSJ have called CA for Sanders, CNN won't call it for awhile I'm sure. They finally called Utah for Sanders (where Biden might finish 5th) when other places called it for Sanders an hour ago. And CNN keeps putting up the list of states won rather than focusing on delegates.

I'm still loving Fauxcahontas finishing third in her home state.

And Jake Tapper just said it's because of sexism. :ohno:

Democrats really can't get out of their own way. It's just amazing to watch them collectively shoot themselves in the foot in an election year they should have had no issues.

I guess you're comparing the 2016 general election to the primary?

Hillary took Virginia in 2016 with 500k votes. A little less than 800k votes total.

Democrats are turning out in higher numbers than the 2016 primaries. In most cases, higher than 2008 primaries as well.

Sorry, edited. A little less than 800k. Close to double the turnout.

2020: 1.3 million (with 99% reporting)
2016: 780k
2008: 986k

I can understand the appeal of a lot of politicians I wouldn't vote for, including Trump and Bernie Sanders. I can get the appeal of every Democrat that survived to Iowa except Biden. I just cant wrap by brain around what's so appealing about the guy. :?

Had three friends (all older) change their votes from Sanders to Biden this week because they think he can beat Trump. I mean VA was always Biden's to lose, but I really wish people simply vote for who best aligns with their beliefs instead of who they think can win. I'm sure the media barrage since SC took a toll too.

The primary turnout has been FANTASTIC though; it bodes well for November, even if the electoral college means only a handful of states actually matter.

Same here. The turn against Bernie was palpable with some of my friends as well.

As I’ve said before, I learned my lesson with Obama’s 1st term appointments and have voted on principle ever since. I know....politicians are unprincipled and dishonest?....huge shocker!

But it’s pervasive throughout business and greater society as well. If you’re not lying and cheating your way to the top, you’re the asshole.

I’m afraid of becoming a moralistic old curmudgeon. I hate humans.
