I like Mark. Personally he’s a good man. Good family man that made a mistake. He made a stupid mistake and regained the trust of the people who returned him to Washington...then they went full retard for Trump.

I think the electoral landscape in terms of primaries and caucuses has shifted markedly since 1972, but are there parallels between the Nixon GOP convention of 1972 and the expected Trump convention of 2020? IIRC, in 1972, only one delegate vote (from New Mexico, of all places) went to a candidate other than Nixon.

Sanford was for a couple of months. Many people knew but he didn't make any impact (obviously).

Republicans aren't interested in electing a Republican who is truly fiscally conservative.

Factor or not he's more of a Republican than Trump is. And he's certainly more of a Republican than a Libertarian.

Ivy, Walsh is wacko.

Walsh is indeed wacko. Weld is more of a traditional Boston Brahmin liberal Republican whose party allegiance is, shall we say, negotiable.

At least he is a Republican with true Republican principles like fiscal conservatism. There’s not a single Republican in Congress or the Whitehouse that gives two shits.

But Republicanism is out of vogue. I’m not sure what this “conservatism” is about. It’s not about small government and liberty.

I got a little secret for you buddy
Republicanism has NEVER been about smaller government and fiscal conservatism

There is not a single example in US history of Republican congress and President
That has lowered government spending of the previous administration

:coffee:

if you say you stand for something - you need at least one example over the past 100 years

You get that it is not unusual for either a Dem or Republican incumbent to get all or all but 1-20 votes, rights? This is not a D or an R thing. It's an incumbent thing at least in the modern era.
