OK, fellas, who is going to watch Le Grand Orange (obvious Rusty Staub MLB reference) strut his stuff tonight) ? And who will hang in there for Miss Georgia 2018’s Democrat response? Discuss.

I haven’t watched SOTU from beginning to end since Bill Clinton’s “the era of big government is over” howler. I don’t plan to watch tonight. Anyway, I have to attend a meeting.

I’m sure you guys will let me know if I miss anything.

Heck no for me, Sixers game is on and I can barely tolerate reading newspaper headlines that deal with Trump, let alone watch him speak for any extended amount of time.

Thanks for the option there, Ivy!

My wife will read me the funniest anti-Trump stuff from her Twitter feed. I'll remind her that social media is the bane of political discourse in this country. Fun time at the Ganny house tonight! Go Sixers!

I have listened to only one Drumpf speech: his inaugural address. It was coherent only because it was scripted. That said, it was dark and unappealing.

If you want an example of incoherent rambling, take a gander at the transcript of Trump’s recent Face the Nation appearance. As a lawyer, I sympathize with any counsel who has to prepare that guy for a deposition or for Congressional testimony. My general approach with witnesses was “listen to the question, answer the question, and shut up.” With Trump, it will be game over from the first question.

His election night acceptance speech actually gave me some glimmer of hope that he wouldn't be a total trainwreck.

I thought his SOTU speech from last year was his best.

I listened to part of that in the car - I think not having to see him while also hearing him made it possible. But yeah, the actual transcripts of him talking are all you need to read to get the full gist of what is, or isn't, going on in his head.

The worst thing you can do is listen/watch one of these speeches. Even the most godawful idea can sound reasonable if delivered correctly. Read the speech and think about it as you go. Been my strategy for more years than I'll admit to.

I don't know so I chose other. I don't think I have ever watched a State of the Union speech. Maybe but if I did I don't remember. Maybe I watched Reagan. But I can't rule out the possibility that I'll flip through channels and watch some of it. And I am curious as to how Abrams will do. She's pretty good at presentation so it'd be interesting to see if she does better than opposition Party respondents usually do.

It's pretty much a guarantee that if I watch any of it it won't be much. I'll just tune in later to find out about how many false statements trump made and how people think Abrams did.

This, especially in the crazy years like this one. This might be the best one since Joe Wilson shouted "You Lie!" and Samuel Alito shook his head while Obama was speaking.

Will they roll RBG out in a slab of carbonite like Hans Solo?

The Pelosi over the shoulder smirks will be priceless.

And you'll see this over and over:

This is entertainment!
