Great read on the state of discourse. It ain’t very good and can be damaging... :ohno:

This is why the woke left can’t have nice things.... :ohno:

Couldn't agree more. The "overly woke" generation is rapidly fucking this country/world up beyond repair.

Meh

They’re cuddly and they’re also on their way back to the rightful pariah status they had prior to 1995

Good piece. I learned that we’re all “hugely nuanced” — even CS posters.

The ex-employee explained that a new YouTube series I was hosting, #MeNeither Show, in which another journalist and I discussed, among other topics, some excesses of the #MeToo movement, was “vile, dangerous and extremely misguided.”
Play with fire, get burned by fire. WTF did she think was the "gain" from doing this?

Everybody should have a hobby. Maybe being always outraged is theirs. :coffee: ;)

I think it mentioned that she didn't work for her husband. I think she's a writer.

I have nieces and nephews and sisters for whom outrage is a full time job. :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

I rarely care enough to find the effort to be that outraged, but then I pretty busy with enjoying life.

Yes. That's my take. But "guilt by association".
Jeopardizing her husband's business should be a concern.

On a similar note, I refuse to attend any A-B events for fear of not controlling my opinions of the arrogant Brazilians that are running the company into the ground. Doing so could jeopardize my wife's job.
I do attend "alumni" events with retired employees I once worked with. We are all on the same page.

I think that's the point of the article, Einstein. She expressed a differing opinion and is getting crucified for it, because of outrage culture. She's not ALLOWED to have a differing opinion from the SJW's of the world...

Exactly, when the left disagrees with your opinion the first thing they go after is your job. You need to immediately be fired or your business ruined if you don't think like them.

Stupidity. That irritates the shit out of me. :coffee: :coffee:

People trying to take away my constitutional rights. That'll set me off. :tothehand: :tothehand:

But expressing a different opinion about the #metoo movement?

Here's a good example of what klammy is talking about: I started getting flamesprayed on FB the other day because I posted "get that girl a sandwich" in response to a Victoria's Secret pic of a rail-thin model...fucking SJW's came OUT OF THE WOODWORK to attack me. 30-40 different a-holes telling me what a "shit" person I am, how judgmental I was, that you could be "thin AND healthy" (apparently they didn't understand the concept of anorexia), etc., etc. WAFJ. I finally just deleted my post because it wasn't worth it...but holy SHIT did that comment offend some delicate sensibilities out there in social media land...

I've got a friend, Lindsey, that struggles with anorexia. She's tackling it with doctors and everything. It's not uncommon for some asshole (usually someone that's overweight, ironically enough) to yell at her, " Eat a sammie" or " Eat a cheeseburger".

Except not a single attacker was attacking me for being a dick about anorexia. They were all defending HER. And how "thin is healthy" and all that crap...

And yes, I'm overweight. :kisswink: :kisswink: :kisswink:

Right. SJWs irk me to no end.

Truthfully, we should be better about not shaming people for being themselves. We don't know if they've got a situation that is out of their control or that they're trying to resolve. If some rail thin girl wants to pose for VS, then that's her body and her business. But they take it to the extreme and will hound you for voicing an opinion.

Why can't we just be excellent towards one another? :kisswink:

Yup, outrage all the time, 24/7. It's how too many people function anymore. That quote "if you're not outraged you aren't paying attention" is the perfect message that says that outrage is the only way to be and if you aren't then you aren't worthy of the discussion.

I don't see how people have the energy to be outraged at everything. It seems exhausting.

My wife found that out. She's as anti-Trump as you can be and for awhile she was upset that I wasn't as upset as she was. Eventually, scrolling through Twitter non-stop everyday got to be exhausting for her. She still hates Trump (and I still will never vote for him) but there's less outrage about everything now. We just focus that on our oldest son now whenever he screws up in school!
