That’s some truth and a little hyperbole

But its a lot closer than the invasion of Iraq and the annexation of the Sudetenland are parallel worthy of comparison

last time I checked, it was never claimed that Iraq should become the 51st state
I'll retract my statement when we have zero troops in Iraq...

Hitler said the Sudetenland was a part of Germany, that Germany was entitled to it - it was a classic blood and soil argument

Yours isn’t even an imperfect analogy

An imperfect analogy (but a better one than yours) would be the Mexican War, or the 1898 Franco-Thai war

Comparing Iraq to the Sudetenland is not comparing apples to oranges, it is like comparing apples to a swing set.

It's not necessarily MY analogy
The original question was WHY did GWB get called Hitler
and I explained why:
using the explanation from the time period of the invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq

I'm not agreeing with or disagreeing with
I'm answering a question: Why was GWB called Hitler

:coffee:

There were many people at the time that pointed out "how you go to war"
with a resistant congress and a 9/11 agitated populous

is to use Nazi tactics
coerce the Congress by calling them traitors and cowards
and satisfy the populace by creating an enemy out of thin air (See Iraq)

That's how you get called Hitler ^ right there... and it has nothing to do with me

No it was your Sudentland to Iraq analogy.

Calling anyone Hitler is just inflammatory. We haven't had anyone like Hitler. Not even Dear Leader Drumpf is close to being Hitler.

The Sudetenland observation was also made at the time in 2003
when all the political mess of the 9/11 Iraq war was piled together
if the only thing that bothers you is a Sudetenland comment then you might be missing the larger point

and at no point do I argue that calling Bush Hitler - is a reasonable or logical response
I am answering a question.... "Why was Bush called Hitler..?"
I am not defending that position I am explaining how it got made

I didn't say you argued Bush was Hitler.

And an analogy is used to show similarities. Hitler invading the Sudetenland to bring the Germanic peoples under the Third Reich is nothing like the USA attacking Iraq for WMDs, oil, whatever reason you want to believe. Those two things aren't close to being similar.

And at this stage, I've forgotten the point you've tried to make. Can you remind me in the form of a haiku? :coffee:

Not disagreeing but couldn’t you also make the “world is different now” argument that is used to defend slave holding founding fathers?

IE: Bush is a kinder gentler Hitler and the world is a smaller place? Imagine if Hitler had the ability to quickly project power on a global scale like today.

Just spit balling here.

Dude, it's okay to say you messed up with the history, or just borrowed a bad analogy from someone else who messed up with history. Heck, I've never seen a person so persistent in trying to prove something that just isn't so since Jelly had his whole Russia/stolen election thing or when JSO decided Hillary was the greatest Presidential candidate ever.

As other have said, Hitler's rationale was that he wanted to add the Sudetenland to the Reich (we never made any claims to Iraq as the 51st state), he made the argument that they were Germanic people separated by made up boundaries (again, we never wanted to have Iraq become American territory), and he had no argument inside his own country or his own government because he and the Nazi party dominated German politics by that point (so entirely different from Bush who had to convince a co-equal party in his own government). It's hard to have a worse analogy than the Sudetenland one that you are clinging to so desperately. It's a really weird hill to die on here. :?

WTF are you talking about? Hitler WAS the government in 1938 when he invaded Austria and Czechoslovakia.

He'd been in charge since 1933. I'd say his dictatorship was hardly "uncooperative".
