I think this particular crisis is over.

Iran may sacrifice some proxies over the next few weeks, but in terms of coordination they are fvcked for at least a year until they designate a new murder monkey

The Iranians choked, IMO. Depending on your politics, they either choked or were smart in choosing to attack those bases when/how they did. They've appeased their populace by taking the fight to the Great Satan but they stopped short of killing any Americans.

I hope/bet that Trump announces something along the lines that any further provocation won't be tolerated and that it's "over". But who knows..he could announce that he just launched a nuke straight at Tehran.

There was a 62 mile back up of German amoured vehicles that were ripe for destruction if only the French had trusted their intelligence. The head of the largest state supporter terror organization in the world is dead, the entire world saw it, and saw a tepid response from Teheran.

Iran has orchestrated attacks on Americans in that region for decades now - largely with few consequences save sanctions. Soleimani is the guy behind all of that.

This was a real consequence. It remains to be seen exactly how this will alter their behavior but the6 absolutely will be much more careful with how openly they aid and abet aggression against our interests.

One a scale of possible responses from Iran that were likely laid out by the President’s advisors - ten being worst case, this was surely down around a 2.

This was a desired outcome... the head of the Quds Force is pushing up daisies, Iran claims to have made a proportionate response (hah hah) and its over.

Now we can go back to asking why we are over there in the first place. Time to let Liechtenstein and the Netherlands deal with Britain’s mess.

Excellent summary. Trump is a buffoon, but this was really a very good outcome for the US. Soleimani is dead, and Iran used up some likely older missiles to crash into the desert. Sure, some folks on the Iranian side are pissed off at the US (well, more pissed off. That's the problem once you call us the Great Satan, they really jumped the shark - we were called that decades ago so how do you up the ante in the insult department there), and some folks who didn't care for the Iranians are happy we killed the top dog in their regional domination game.
