Anyone else following?

I guess Trump can wag his finger at Jinping over trade but can't offer any support to these demonstrators?

Obama was blasted for saying nothing during the Iranian demonstrations that took place while he was president...

Reading what Trump tweeted today about the Hong Kong demonstrations, I wish he had said nothing...

:ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

Somebody needs to tell the Hong Kongers that the US flag is actually the symbol of oppression and hate

Depends on who's waving it and what for...

:geek:

A flag - in and of itself - has no meaning

serious question - how would you want Trump (Or any President, D or R) to back these people?

When has the US, since WWII, shown any inclination to back anyone of this type and actually help the situation?

Bush screwed up Iraq, (both of them did, different groups as well), Obama screwed up Libya, etc.

Trump needs to close down the USA and not worry about other countries until our shits fixed.

This is NONE of our business. Let China fight for China

It is unfortunate

People are going to die in Hong Kong before this mess is over.

But China won't be able to whitewash it the way they did Tienanmen Square... too many iPhones

I'll bet Hong Kongers don't think of big bad Britain when they talk about "colonialism" now

It is also inconvenient - every time China starts to look a bit like a sympathetic character to the "socialism works some places" crowd... China goes and shows us the actual nuts and bolts of how it works

These people just need to get with the program... it is for the greater good

Not sure how much, but he should at least tweet out that he is in favor of what they are doing.

I’m just waiting for the APCs to roll and squash people and then have CNN parse out how Trump encouraged it or something

Funny, my friend said the same thing a few hours ago, but he added that the left will blame Trump for the lax gun laws in HK.

How many people actually thought, back in 1997, that the Red Chinks would actually back off for 50 years? I know I didn’t.

You're calling the Chinese Military Dictatorship a version of "socialism" ..?
or you're saying that that is ultimately what all socialist countries become?

:geek:

I've heard economists argue the U.S. is closer to a socialist country than China right now
Slave Labor camps / kinda a dictatorship thing

The US is a socialist nation, simply one which the current population has decided to invest its labor-value into corporations, rich people, and the military. We're still a free, albeit misguided, society.

China is a communist dictatorship. Its labor passes through one entity which decides where to put it and the population has no choice.

all I know is... that if Obama were president
We'd be talking about how this would never happen if a Republican were president
China would never pull this stunt with a real man as President

Because Republican stuff

:coffee: and yet here we are...
