Technically he is doing an over the topic stereotype of an Arabic person, which would seem to make "brown" the more appropriate term

That could be a valid point. We do need to find a way for folks to grow thicker skin.

Trudeau was already in a pretty tough election - he was already facing issues for trying to get the government to back off SNC-Lavalin, and he backed off a few electoral promises from the last time (they're behind in meeting their Paris-accord goals, he greenlit a controversial oil pipeline, and he's still selling weapons to the Saudis). His biggest draw was that he wasn't like the conservative government that he replaced and that he was woke. Considering his disapproval rating already (something like 60%), I can't see having brown face pictures from just 15 years ago or so is going to play well for him. He's a good campaigner, so who knows, he might pull out of this. But this isn't a good look for him right now.

Apparently there are three separate instances of him wearing black/brown face. The yearbook photo, apparently he went black face in a talent show (he sang "Day-O" by Harry Bellafonte) and there's another random video where he's wearing it. The dude's really committed to it apparently.

Got to love it. First it's one, then it's two, and now Trudeau says he has "no idea" how many times he may have worn brown/black face (translation, probably a lot more photos coming out). Do they not have other Halloween costumes or party ideas in Canada other than this? And this wasn't like it was back in middle school, the most recent one is when he was 29 years old (he's 47 now). For a guy that ran on a diversity platform, this is certainly an odd way to celebrate that diversity.

Don't know about "liberal outlets" in general but I spent the day on the road today listening to NPR and they were NOT giving him a pass.

My own thought is that this hypersensitivity about a White person dressing up as a Black (or Brown) person is ridiculous. It's an example of the kind of irrational hypersensitivity that helps put an atrocity like Trump in power. And, yes, I've heard all the history of Blackface stuff. I've heard it over and over again. I heard it a lot on NPR today.

But get over it. To me, if Blacks and other minorities want to be viewed as just like everybody else they need to let go of this "we want to take offense" thing.

Read an article today. Meghan Kelly was forced out after only talking about blackface. Trudeau has to go!
