C'mon, he's a straight ballot voter who eats tofu.
What's wrong with tofu? It just absorbs the flavor of whatever it's mixed with. It's fine with Asian food.

Based on what I know, I would vote no. Do I think Trump and his minions' activities were ethically questionable? Yes. Do I think they rise to the level of impeachable offenses? No.
I think he's guilty as hell. However, i'm not sure his actions are impeachable.
Why?

I’ve eaten tofu as about as many times as I’ve voted Democrat for any office, local or national, since 2008. Which is about 3 times. I voted against McMorris Rogers twice and a Dem County commissioner once.

Unlike Hen, I’m post tribal. And gosh darn it, that just makes him mad!

Hey, I'm all game, tell me how we did the Clinton and the Johnson impeachments were fundamentally different at this point. Sure, the HoR had more stuff in the Clinton one since we had a special prosecutor and that's where a lot of the formal evidence came from, but what new stuff came up during the trial in the Senate? Even with the witnesses, they basically said what they said when they were witnesses in the investigation (heck, sometimes they didn't even called them back and just used the recorded statements from the witnesses).

We know what we need to know - Trump wanted an investigation into the Biden's ties in the Ukraine, he wanted to hold back the money that he couldn't legally hold back (for a month and a half at least) as a means of leverage, and when Congress wanted to investigate all of this during the impeachment inquiry Trump wasn't cooperative. And we have evidence of all of that. Oh, and Trump is a fairly despicable kind of guy to boot. The only decision now is whether to remove him from office for that. The details that are being argued over now do nothing to change any of that.
Evidence and Witnesses were allowed and called during Clinton's trial. The Republicans - you know the people who said there were no witness with first hand knowledge - don't want someone like Bolton to testify.

It looks like Mitch has changed the resolution with regards to evidence. Good.
Like I said, the evidence admission thing was a non-issue. Submit, don't submit, nothing has changed one way or the other on that one as it relates to what the "jury" knows. The evidence was clear regardless of a formal submittal or not - just something to write headlines about.

As for the witnesses, last time it was just Lewinsky, Jordan, and Blumenthal who were deposed, and even then it was just excerpts of their closed door testimony that were actually shown to the full Senate. And I think all three of them (could be wrong here) had already given testimony prior to the impeachment trial, through either the special prosecutors investigation or through the House's impeachment inquiry, and in some cases both. That's certainly a distinction, bringing in witnesses that have already been heard and testified versus bringing in new witnesses who haven't been a part of any investigation so far.

True. It’s not a vote on innocence. It’s whether his crimes amount to removing him from office.

The only slight danger with McConnell’s strategy is Republicans being damaged for running it through quickly and voter resentment come November. Given the attention span and intelligence of American voters I think he’s making a relatively safe bet.
McConnell is one of the shrewdest political operators and vote counters in Congress. I agree he’s making a safe bet.

Val Deming couldn’t have been the best choice for a house manager. She can barely read what’s before her.

And her inability to pronounce basic words is astounding.

Our First Lady can't speak basic English....what's your point?

She isn’t an elected official prosecuting an impeachment.

I think he'd have to take Trumps tiny dick out of his mouth and that would help.

Barely two weeks after Donald Trump took office, Eric Ciaramella – the CIA analyst whose name was recently linked in a tweet by the president and mentioned by lawmakers as the anonymous “whistleblower" who touched off Trump's impeachment – was overheard in the White House discussing with another staffer how to remove the newly elected president from office, according to former colleagues.

^Yeah it's exactly the same as a government shutdown, where federal employees don't get paid for weeks, and contracted positions either have to use vaca time or don't get paid at all.

And let's be serious, McConnell and this crop of GOP have been one of the biggest obstructionist blocks in US senate history. Everything the House has sent doesn't even get debated anymore in the "World Greatest Deliberative Body."

The rest is just a large text of conservative bullsh*t.

"Get back to business." The Senate does very little business. Everything just dies without debate.

Yup. The smart money is on Trump becoming the first President to be impeached more than once. And considering he's a better than even shot to get four more years, it's just a question of how long the Dems can hold onto the House - the longer they do the more impeachments. Trump isn't a young man, so there's still a chance he doesn't finish out his second term, so there's that.
