Pee on butt.

But, it doesn't matter, he won't be convicted. Impeachment will hopefully help speed subpoenas through the court and give House Committees a stronger case.

"Impeached but McConnell decides not to hold Senate trial" would be my choice if it was available.

If I was king for a day, I would have Trump resign and Kasich run in 2020. He would curbstomp anything that comes out of the Dem convention.

It would be refreshing to have a decent human being run for President again.

 I like Kasich. I'd vote for him.

I find it really hard to see the Democrats actually going through with the impeachment. There's zero chance of conviction at this point, unless something else comes out. There's not a smoking gun yet that will turn the Senate to vote to convict. The speed at which the administration is responding to things surely makes it looks like they want all of this to happen, and I don't doubt that Trump has been thinking impeachment is his best campaign tool for 2020. But for this poll, the only two viable options are impeach or nothing - I think Pelosi won't be able to hold back her herd, so I say impeach.

No. We need someone that will keep the pedal to the metal. In baseball terms, Kasich is a singles hitter and an average fielder. We need someone with home run power and cat-like quickness in the field. Someone like......

So choice #1 should be read as “impeached but not convicted”?

Or “impeached by House but not voted on in Senate” (as suggested by 93)?

I’m not 100% sure that this is a sound strategy by the Trump campaign if that’s what this is.

The political damage to the majority party might be a function of the President being a sympathetic character, which Trump is not. If the impeachment charges are frivolous in nature, then that is what will sour voters like it did with Clinton. But Trump is a frivolous President. I don’t think swing voters are going to be swayed by a frivolous impeachment if that’s how it turns out.

In fact I wonder if there is any such thing as a swing voter in the age of Trump.

Hell, maybe that’s the strategy.... fire up the base and get them all to the polls

At this point if I had to bet I'd bet the most likely scenario is that he'll be impeached then the Senate will not convict him. He SHOULD be impeached and removed from office. He did obstruct Justice during the Russia investigation. And now we have this thing. But the Republican Party is totally corrupt right now. There is no way they are going to do the right thing.

There are numerous smoking guns.

But I agree that there aren't any that would cause Republicans in the Senate to vote to convict. That's because the Republican Party is now completely corrupt. They all know the guy should be removed from office. But they're not going to do it because they care more about their Party and their own holding on to office than they do about the Country.

No I thought about that. There is no way the Reps don’t bring it to a vote. I don’t think they’d be that foolish.

But stranger things have happened.

Read an article this evening in which some GOP consultant claims that a Republican Senator told him of the vote were secret, then about 30 Republicans would vote to impeach. Cowards.

It definitely is for his base, and the idea is that swing voters are so turned off by the race that they sit it out. He's been speaking to his base for quite sometime now, it's clearly his play. And I agree, it's far from a sound strategy. But stranger things have happened.

I'm not sure this is legal. The first paragraph, I mean.

I get the feeling that Trump has too much pride to resign. The way I read things, if the articles of impeachment pass the House, the Senate HAS to hold a trial. The problem for the Donkeys, though, is that I don't think they have enough Senate votes to convict if it goes straight down party lines. The House prosecutors will have to be VERY persuasive to get even a few Senate GOP votes to convict. Pelosi is wasting our time and $$, IMO....
