The Senate passed a stopgap spending bill Thursday, days before the deadline to prevent a government shutdown. Senators voted 82-15 on the continuing resolution (CR), which will fund the government through Nov. 21. Lawmakers had until Monday night to prevent the second funding lapse of the year. The measure, which passed the House last week, now heads to President Trump’s desk, where White House officials have said they expect him to sign it.

I'm keenly interested in this one, because I do not want a shutdown crossing from January 4 to January 5, 2020, because that is when my current health care plan ends and the new one would begin. I cannot have a gap in coverage or be left under my current plan while receiving cancer treatment. I don't believe that occurred during the last one, but I'm not entirely sure. Staying under my current plan would cost me a boatload next year.

Having been through a few of those, I can tell you everything will go as you expect on health care. Shut down would not impact .

I mean, I've been with the government for 25 years now, so I've been through a few shutdowns as well, but I've never been in a situation where if my 2019 FEHB plan (a CDHP, in which I had a boatload of rolled over credit, $4,800 to be exact) is not converted to my 2020 election (a traditional high option plan, which is more appropriate for a cancer patient) in timely fashion, it could cost me literally thousands of dollars out of pocket.

You do not want to be caught with a CDHP with no rollover pot in a year where you are medically compromised. CDHP's are a gamble that can benefit very healthy people greatly... until they get cancer. My out of pocket this year is capped at $1,800. If I was in the same plan next year, it would be $6,600. That's a cheapskate's nightmare!

I think it would be the perfect antidote to endless impeachment hearings. With a “93 carveout,” anyway.

I'm sure I'm overthinking it, but this is the one year I actually care about health benefits continuity.
