Honestly, the NBA should just point out that lots of US companies do business with China in spite of their human rights record and just stop pretending to be woke.

Adam Silver is about the only guy who comes off OK in that article. The politicians do what politicians will do: grandstand.

And fvck the Red Chinese anyway. They’ve supplied Yao Ming and nobody else. His jerseys must have a long shelf life over there.

We need some way to get the woke brigades to stop apologizing for China the way they were minimizing Russia from 2000-2016

I know - get the Warren campaign to finance a dossier that elevates rumors about Trump attending Shanghai bukkake parties. They already mess with our political processes so that part’s easy

Le Bron, Popovich, and Kerr can talk big and bash Trump, but nothing out of those clowns when it comes to a brutal totalitarian regime. What a trio of snowflakes. Guess, no Jazz games or gear for me this year.

I haven’t been to a live NBA game since about 1995, so I have no boycott leverage.

I'm not sure I could even name 5 players in the NBA.

ESPN wants to stay mum on politics when it comes to politics about their concentration camp running, Tibet occupying overlords:

ESPN is also a subsidiary of Disney, which is also beholden to China

That we have a population composition such that there are enough people who would vote for somebody like Trump to be President to allow for that to have happened is a bigger problem for the United States than China is.

It is true. The fact that we have enough people in the United States who would do something like that is a huge problem because our system depends on the quality of the population. The fact that, even now, we have over 40% of the population who support this guy is a very bad sign. If we had an intellectually and morally healthy population there is no way somebody like that would ever sniff the Presidency. And there is no way anything close to 40% of the population would approve of him right now.

It is indeed a bigger problem for our country than China is. Not that China isn't a problem. But that kind of internal population rot is a bigger one.

That is correct.

A Hongkonger Pro esports player suspended a year by an American gaming company for making a statement in support of the Hong Kong protests.

BTW, I'm curious if all this stuff will spark a conversation about Google building software to help the Chinese censor the internet, or if Google has enough woke points from firing James Damore that they can get a pass.

China pulled South Park as it makes fun of Hollywood kowtowing to the Chinese censorship requirements to air stuff over there...then they issue this apology: America, Fuck Yeah!!!

TBH, I'm even surprised China allowed SP to be viewed in the first place. :dunce:

This is a huge deal right now in the gaming community and Blizzard is getting hammered for it.

Of course now everyone brings up the HK issue on their own streams and during tournaments, and Blizzard is banning them too. At this rate, China is going to be Blizzard's only customer base.

BlizzCon is coming up on November 1 in Anaheim too...gonna be a complete sh*t show. They couldn't have more poorly timed these bans and their buckling-down. And they're doing this as they were just gaining momentum as people returned en-masse to WoW (which had died off for the longest time).

And even more idiots voting for Clinton. Hope the Dems can come up with a decent person, but the current leading idiots won't get my vote either.

A statement that corporations like the NBA and Blizzard could release to minimize the damage:

Dear Value Customers:

We have a confession to make. Our virtue-signaling over social justice issues in the US is exactly that. We don't take stances on these issues out of principle, we do it because it curries favor with liberal young people when older people pitch a fit and bring attention to us.

We realize now that doing this makes us look like hypocrites, so from now on we're refraining from taking stances on controversial issues, which we should have done to begin with. Ultimately we just want to not tick our customers off and make money.

If you have a problem with that, don't take it out on just us. Tons of US companies do business with China because they're an economic powerhouse with 1.4 billion people.

Thanks.

Same here. It’s only slightly more entertaining than hockey.

Is there a thread on the Poly board since in the last 3 years where JSO hasn't worked his Trump is an abomination spiel in?

I now have new found respect for gamers. They seem to have enough stones to stand up for what is right.
