Blue Wave 2019

Post by dbackjon »

Won the Kentucky Governorship - a Trump Cultist who was the GOP's wet dream - slashed Medicaid and other social services, anti-abortion, anti-gay, Trump-ass licker.

Turned Virginia completely blue - took both sides of the General Assembly

Flipped dozens (and counting) of local offices across the country, including Delaware County PA for the first time in 150 years, Mike Pence's hometown for the first time in decades, etc.

I wouldn't say it was a wave. However, I think Democrats over achieved.

I was listening to NPR today and I heard a Kentucky woman call in to say that she had voted Republican all her life but she voted "all blue" in Kentucky because the Republicans are with Trump. That's exactly how I am right now. To me the Republican Party completely discarded any semblance of integrity by falling in line behind Trump. So, after voting Republican during all my life until 2016, I now just look at the ballot and vote for the Democrat.

Just early voted for the Louisiana thing and did that. I looked at the ballot. If the race involved a Republican and a Democrat I voted Democrat.

And I will continue to do that. The Republican Party is now persona non grata.

And it's because the Republicans have fallen in line with Trump. The fact that they did that, to me, says we don't want them in power anywhere at any time. Zero integrity. Worse than anything the Democrats have ever done.

I mean, I don't think anyone really doubts Democrats have wind in their sails right now, but that governor was really unpopular. Trump didn't oust him, he ousted himself.

Agreed. That guy was almost Roy Moore-unelectable.

And those Donks who think they can pick off Mitch McConnell are jizzing into a strong breeze.

Not a wave, but a few wins for the Dems. I believe both houses in Ky are GOP, so Dem governor not going to do too much damage.

The biggest blue issue in Texas was overwhelming defeated...

A Constitutional amendment passed to make it more difficult for politicians in the future to ever install an income tax in Texas...

The Dems tried the “We oppose income taxes too, so this is not necessary” argument...but it fell flat...

Run a good candidate (like Gov. Abbott) and Texas will remain red...

And now the DNC Chair is trying to get Robert Francis to join the Senate race...

The Democratic Candidate did better than expected.

You mean like Trump?

Lots of Suburban counties across the country went blue. Trump is driving suburban moms away from his cult-party

Hmmmmm. I wonder who the least popular Senator is. Could it also be a Kentuckian?
Spoiler: show
According to a RealClearPolitics polling average, McConnell’s approval rating currently sits at 24.3 percent, and Morning Consult poll conducted over the summer also found that he is America’s most unpopular senator with voters in their own state.

So the donk:
-who's daddy was a 2 term KY gov.
-who had a libertarian running who took 2% of the vote, mostly from the conk gov/candidate.
-running against the most unpopular gov in the country.
Only won by 0.36%? That's pretty WEAK.

And it may not even be over.

If we lived in a world where Hillary Clinton won in the landslide I thought she would in 2016....

Then I might be inclined to say that this KY election is a canary in a KY coal mine... but I don't make national election predictions any more.

Maybe if Hillary was running against Jussie Smollett... then MAYBE I'd venture a prediction as to what this means. But not now.

That guy was an ass. He should've been defeated by more than 5k votes.

Meanwhile Trump is the reason Republicans win but not the reason they lose? If he had to "drag him across the finish line" why spend your political capital on him? :suspicious: :suspicious:
