and the way the fear mongers talk I was expecting 10,000,000 deaths. So I guess we're both disappointed.

Didn’t have to happen. Economic crises were part of the reason we created the FED.

We have spending problem.

(During the good times).
The answer to a spending problem is smaller government.
True. And what and when you spend on.

BTW, I was quoting Cleets.

First, 1 business closing or 1 death because of a pandemic is not acceptable. Exaggerating either one is not acceptable either. There is a lot of miss-information on social media that is polarizing this country, by exaggerating statistics from different angles to further their agenda. The right-wing or left-wing meme you see on social media, might be something that originated in another country, like Russia, China, Iran, etc. From what I've seen, people are sucking it right up, almost to the point of another Civil War.

Iran Propaganda - Reuters Link

Its views on America do not chime with those of Egypt’s state media, which celebrate Donald Trump’s warm relations with Cairo. In one recent article, Nile Net Online derided the American president as a “low-level theater actor” who “turned America into a laughing stock” after he attacked Iran in a speech at the United Nations.

More than 70 websites found by Reuters push Iranian propaganda to 15 countries. The content comes from the International Union of Virtual Media (IUVM), which says it is headquartered in Tehran.

What is your acceptable number of deaths and business losses? How did wearing masks, washing hands and distancing cause businesses to close. If people had followed the protocol and kept businesses open, we would have had less death and less business closings.

Not likely you would die if you got the Moderna vaccine. Some small percentage of those who receive the vaccine have symptoms. But it's pretty much considered to be 100% protective against serious illness and/or death.

The part about being giving it to someone else is valid. Risk is reduced. But still possible.

The people who refuse to get vaccinated are the idiots among us. Not much can be done about it.

You see the CDC report basically saying that the China Virus has a very low likelihood of spreading via surface contact? I'll try in look it up. But basically this is now just stay away from "sick people" and you should be "safe". So basically like any other illnesses out there. :thumb:

GannonFan wrote: Tue Apr 13, 2021 5:03 am US is pausing vaccinations using the J&J vaccine due to blood clots. Listen, I get that you want to be absolutely careful with the vaccines, but right now they have 6 cases of blood clots in more than 7 million doses of the vaccine. That's basically less than a one in a million chance of developing blood clots from this (and all 6 cases were females between 18 and 49). When supposedly the chances of catching and dying from COVID are higher than the chance of having a negative reaction to the vaccine, doesn't the math and science point to continuing the vaccine?

https://abcnews.go.com/US/us-calls-halt ... e_hero_hed
Until that process is complete, we are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution.
I'm of the opinion now that everytime someone utters the phrase "out of an abundance of caution" it's because they can't support what they're doing with facts or science but they are operating in the COYA mode, reality be damned.
Could be out of precaution due to the blood clot issue in the European vaccine, but I agree, keep injecting as many people with whatever they want so long as they want it.

There is no reasonable answer to that. The only answer, IMO, is as few as possible. It'd be great if nobody died or lost their business during a once in a generation event like a pandemic, but that's not reasonable.

I don't think you can put a number on it.

it wasn't the distancing. It was the mandatory CLOSURES for months on end. Then, with a clear lack of understanding of how a business operates, telling restaurants and bars to operate at 25% capacity. In other words, open up to lose MORE money. Then making big, key decisions like "you can open at 50% if you serve food, but not if you serve alcohol." Then "we'll decide what constitutes food", then, "you can't eat inside, but set up an outdoor tent that is enclosed and you're good", and "wear a mask from the front door to your table, but the table is a safe zone", then "go ahead and open back up, but we're going to provide unemployment kickers in perpetuity so lazy-ass Americans don't have to go back to work, so you won't be able to find employees"....you know, big scientific decisions like THESE are what caused businesses to close.

But no, it wasn't the handwashing or masks.

Depends on what "obligations" are deemed "necessary" and what would intrude on a community's freedoms; but in a general sense I can agree.
